Link TV....Television without Borders lives up to its claim.

By Steven Lane, published on Sep 9, 2007

How was I supposed to know it was there? True, I have been a paying customer of Direct TV for over seven years and I can assume, now, today, that it was always there. It was just waiting for me to look for it. I had never heard of it before, no one has ever spoken to me about it. I have never ever read about it. How could such a wonderful thing sit inside my TV without my notice? What am I blathering on about? Well, I am talking about Link TV, the worldwide satellite TV station, that makes and then lives up to the claim of "Television without Borders." Due to a recent back injury, I have found... (more)

The Lesbian Housewife

By Lumiere, published on Jun 20, 2011

Every morning, Analisa, a petite two year old girl, the daughter of my best friend Jewels, would push open the door to my room, sneak in, climb onto and over an upholstered rocking chair to get onto my bed. Her goal was to cover me and my blanket with as many of her brother's orange, green and yellow dinosaurs as possible. If turning me into a human version of dinosaur mountain did not wake me up, Analisa would crawl closer to my head, put her tiny little hand on my face and say "wake up," in the sweetest, softest little voice. Some mornings she would even sing, " Twinkle, twinkle, little star,"... (more)

In This Corner... Randy De La O

By 'Mean' Mike Duffau, published on Jul 3, 2011

How did you get into boxing? Did it run in your family? Who were your influences?

I remember watching the old Gillette Friday Night Fights with my father when I was kid in the late 50's. That was probably my first introduction to boxing. My father was a former boxer in the army and stayed a fan all of his life. He understood the sport. Almost by default, I became a fan too. He taught me the basic skills of boxing. My father and I would visit the Main Street Gym whenever we were in Downtown Los Angeles. He will always be my first and biggest influence. My uncle Gilbert was also a boxer... (more)

Imagine sitting in a casting session to cast your husbands girlfriend, or building a life with a man who spends his life telling stories and writing... (more)

Those Were The Days

By Theresa H Hall, published on Aug 12, 2010

At most times I understand the world and then I'll wake up to a brand new day and see things differently. Everyone has their point of view and it can confuse my little world.

After a great night's sleep (which hasn't happened a lot this summer), I awoke with the same sense of adventure I used to have pretty much everyday as a kid enjoying the freedoms of the summer months. Back then I would sit down to a prepared breakfast, watch some television, take a bath (mostly to please my Mother), and don my shorts or bathing suit. I made sure I had a few bucks or change on me, my house key, and... (more)

Choosing To Love In Spite Of Heartache

By Lumiere, published on May 15, 2009

Miguel had a chiseled body like a fine Greek art sculpture, with piercing aqua blue eyes he immediately captured your attention. Sadly, his beauty was hiding a secret, his heart was broken over a recent relationship break up. He had been romantically involved with a Latin celebrity, not 'out' to the public for three, almost four years. His break up was turning into a bad nightmare because every where he went there were reminders of his ex; on the radio, television, newspaper and even magazines. Miguel had been referred to me for coaching by mutual friends of ours, because they felt he needed... (more)

Michael Jackson Dead At Age 50; Farrah And Ed Who?

By D. E. Carson, published on Jun 25, 2009

They alway come in threes or so the urban legend goes.  Earlier this week it was announced that former Tonight Show announcer Ed McMahon died.  This morning, we all learned of the passing of Farrah Fawcett and before I could get home from work, it was announced that Michael Jackson died.

The crowds and the traffic snarls around the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center were indicative of who was the most popular among those three, in spite of the fact that McMahon also died at Reagan UCLA.

The real tragedy isn’t that Jackson was the youngest of the three.  The real tragedy... (more)

Keep Your Pants On - Literally!

By D. E. Carson, published on Apr 21, 2008

Someone once told me that these punks that wander around with their pants around their hips and not up on their waist are ignorant of what that really means. I have no idea if it is true or not, but the reason for having your pants drooping around your hips is because you’re asking your prison cell mate to drive his one-eyed monster up your Hershey Highway. The point being that it is used by prisoners as a means of saying, “Please don’t kill me, I’ll be your bee-yotch if you’ll let me live!”

Regardless of whether that’s what it... (more)
