How Reno's RC Willey Did The Bait And Switch On Us

By Edward, published on Jun 1, 2009

... the cards. At first Master Card and VISA refused to cancel them. It took six months, telephone calls, letters until finally I got both cards cancelled. Employees, including managers, refused to give their names, just an employee number. Now cash is tight and we are on a cash basis.

Off to Reno’s Lowe’s we go where Lowe’s agreed to finance a washer, dryer and refrigerator with 12 months zero interest no payments. Armed with that in writing, we go to Reno’s RC Willey on the way south end of Reno. There a Carol in appliances slyly pounces on us. We look around, pick out what we... (more)

Reno AAA: Where Our Members Don't Come First

By Marga, published on Jul 6, 2009

Recently I went to renew my 37-year membership with AAA. I had not received a renewal notice. I went to the Reno AT&T phone book but was unable to find any listing for AAA. I called the 800 number on my AAA membership card, 800-222-4357. I got a Don, not allowed to give last name or employee number. Don told me that there are two AAA locations in Reno, both in South Reno. 6795 S. Virginia and the other on Damonte Ranch Road. Both very way south. Not at all centrally located. AAA, where all members outside of South Reno don’t come at all at AAA.AAA has only one location in Sparks and that... (more)

This year the stage is solar powered, cell phone and auto battery recycling sites are included, as well as a free valet service for bicycles, skateboards and roller blades, and free shuttle from Reno High, 395 Booth Street. The Audit of Broo: An Internal Dissection By Its Own Members

By BusinessLife, published on Feb 18, 2011

...would be a great opportunity for individual members and for Broo as a whole. I believe that this could result in significant traffic increases, particularly as authors create fan bases who return regularly to see what they have written.

Threats

-Has a nasty past/history with Reno Broo

-Former Reno members and possibly others have blamed new ownership as a reason why Broo is not successful ranking wise and page view wise.

-Accusations of changing words in an article that have nothing to do with typos is still online to read.

-Personal attacks happen... (more)

Hector's Big Weekend: Part I

By Ed Attanasio, published on Nov 22, 2011

...that adrenalin rush. One time he and another fool bet on who could eat more pieces of sushi and Hector started gagging after 90. Pretty impressive for a 5’2’’ 100-lb. guy, but he lost $10,000 when his friend ate 104 nigiri-zushi. Another time, Hector was convinced that he could run from Reno to Carson City in a business suit in the dead of winter. One of the assorted morons in his entourage of hangers ons, wanna bes and never wasses, bet him 20 grand and Hector won. It took him almost two days for him to run, jog, shuffle and finally limp the 40 miles. But in the process, two of... (more)

Hey, Can We Really Do That With Fountainhead?

By Marga, published on Feb 7, 2010

...will endure because it is a classic monument of and to human love and it was built to last.

What we know of today as Fountainhead started its life as an ordinary tract house in a plain and homogenized subdivision with the universal name of Sky Country. Its zip code is 89503 in Reno, Nevada. However, being on the north side of McCarran, Sky Country was commonly classified as New North West Reno 89523 zip code. Chino the Carpenter says Sky Country is a boring and poorly engineered subdivision. Reno allowed the subdivision to be designed wrong he complains. The streets and... (more)

... that we grew up together by the way he was acting.”

On meeting Marilyn for the first time: “We were playing in a golf tournament at the Merced Country Club, and afterwards all of the guys went to a bar in San Francisco. Dominic DiMaggio was partners in this bar. And our buddy Reno Barsocchini was serving drinks – just to help out. ‘Hey, Dario!’ Barsocchini called out. ‘Go down that hall and turn left, the first door you come to. There’s a guy down there who wants to see you.’ So I walked down there and sitting in a chair was Joe DiMaggio. And sitting on his... (more)
