Memo to critics of Augusta National: mind your own business

By bazzabear, published on Apr 18, 2012

...century. Fiddle with them and you'll have no complaint if you're requested to resign. That's the way things work.

So if individual members are bound by such rules by what right do outsiders perceive they can rip up a club's constitution on a politically correct whim? In essence, their ramblings on the subject were so much editorial bull dust.

This point was endorsed for me by one self-righteous, non-golfing commentator, for The Times of all journals, who referred to the championship as "hitting a ball the size of a champagne cork around a field." Which says everything about... (more)

The English School of Love

By alan handwerger, published on May 3, 2010

...I’m going to pass.”

“Ah, well,” said Richard, his tone indicating disappointment and resignation. “I merely thought it worth mentioning…. Cheers, mate.”

I would probably have written this wife swapping “club of sorts” episode off as the fantastic ramblings of an inebriated colleague had it not been for what happened the following Monday morning. Arriving at school bright and early, I found a note in my mailbox asking that I stop by to see the school nurse. As I had a good half hour to kill before classes began, off I went.

Nurse, as... (more)

Journals: When Ted Told Me He Was God - Los Angeles, 1992

By Yvonne de la Vega, published on Sep 8, 2010

... it is their assignment, diligent in stories, impressive with perfect recall without stopping to forget or remember.

So - life can continue without growth of the mind, like the brutal ignorant, those heartless men who love to joy in hatred. In time, they too will become old and drunk with ramblings unheard, saved exclusively for the generation next just like them to come of age to ridicule them with daggers thrown in harsh disrespectful words like,

"Hey nobody's talking to you , you old this or you old that."I ask myself, "How are they convinced that old anything is not... (more)

Protesters at Marine’s Funeral prove America's Greatness

By SanityCheck2, published on Oct 8, 2010

...Homosexuality seems to be his favorite target, Fred has also gone off on the Mormons, the Catholics, the Muslims, the Jews and apparently, the Canadians. It is perplexing that the French seem to have escaped Fred’s wrath but then there is little of a rational nature associated with Fred’s ramblings.

For what its worth, Fred is at best an unseemly and ill-advised choice as God’s Spokesman. Why God would choose Fred when the leaders of half a dozen real religions could literally reach millions of people the world over, seems to be an error that an infallible deity would not make. ... (more)

Comedy Review: Eddie Izzard, Live in Brighton

By The Gaming Gentleman, published on Nov 29, 2009

...a wonderfully formulated story, which appeared off-the-cuff, but I’m sure it was not. Despite the tangential approach to his subject he consistently kept his array of themes and characters on-track and continually returned to jokes and points from earlier in the show to add depth to his ramblings and providing countless moments of side-aching laughter to his crowd.

Even when the odd joke stumbled he recovered cleverly by mocking the silliness of the comment in his “imaginary notebook” and always achieved a laugh. On the rare occasion when he was heckled he managed to get a ... (more)

June Featured Contributor - V

... story you ever wrote for the Broo? It has got such a dumbass, ridiculously long title, but I think my favorite is “Riding Along in My Automobile, No Baby beside Me at the Wheel.” It is a subject close to my heart and I feel like I earned the right to the indulgence of my poetic ramblings (like I tend toward) because I put in the hard work of a bunch of research. In the time you've been part of Broowaha, how have you grown as a writer or interviewer? Maybe you can tell us about your first article, your most recent article. When I first stumbled upon Broowaha, I... (more)

Life's not Always a Beach in Venice

By V, published on May 3, 2007

...and all is quiet. I blink and then it starts again. The chanting. But I am awake. It's near. I can hear her right under my open, first-floor window. I'm no expert on accents from that region of the world, but she has the thickest accent that I place as perhaps being Jamaican. She rambles the ramblings of the mad but it's a song. It's a spell. "Ah tohld heim na ceiggarates. Ah tohld heim na ceiggarates. He leaved me. He leaved me" she sing/ cries. It's utterly disturbing and sends chills through me, as if she's trying to conjure this man's spirit. If you live at Venice Beach, maybe you... (more)
