If The Government Owned Facebook

By Randy Mitchell, published on May 21, 2012

With one click of a computer’s mouse, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg became one of the richest people in the world, if not in history when the company he founded became public last week. And as most know, Facebook was created among the confines of a Harvard dorm room utilizing nothing more but an ingenious idea, entrepreneurial drive to succeed, and discovery of a golden niche revealing the thirsty desire people have to connect and share their lives with others. The young Grandfather of social media is definitely the wonder boy of new-age business, probably carrying both the admiration and... (more)

Murderers have Facebook too

By taking off the mask, published on Apr 23, 2011

I recently saw a post on someone’s Status update of a link to a particular persons profile page. I clicked on it to find the face I have recently seen on the internet, I was staring at the picture of a killer (posing for his Facebook profile picture). I started immediately translating his facebook statues updates from Arabic to English hoping to find things like “I hate Jews” or “let’s kill some Jews today” obviously I came back with nothing. The most I got was that ‘it’s hard to find a woman worth making sacrifices for’, pretty boring. I realized killers aren’t always people you’d suspect,... (more)

More Facebook Friends Means a Bigger Brain

By TonyBerkman, published on Oct 20, 2011

If you use Facebook, and who doesn't, then your brain size correlates to how many Facebook "friends" you have. Actually it also correlates to how many "real friends" you have. Confused yet?

Researchers from University College London reported that certain areas of your brain have more "grey matter" the more friends you have on Facebook. The researchers also concluded that if you have more Facebook friends then you tend to have more "real world friends." The study did not take into account the total number of internet relationships that participants had. They limited their research... (more)

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People on Facebook

By Tony G. Rocco, published on May 31, 2010

People ask me: Are you on Facebook? with a furtive look, as if inquiring whether I surf the 'net for porn. What do you make of it, they ask? They don't get it, they say, quizzically. They are suspicious of it, paranoid. Like it's going to suck their blood. Steal their souls. At the very least, expose them to the scrutiny of anonymous others from all quarters of the online universe. And lead to their eventual undoing.

Whatever...

Exposure is what Facebook is all about, I say. To complain about it is like going to a cocktail party and getting upset when people talk to you. If you... (more)

3 Facebook Fails

By Glenn T, published on Oct 6, 2010

At present, there are two kinds of people in this country: people who use social media, and the incontinent. The age (or otherwise) excused from reliable bladder control notwithstanding, first MySpace and now Facebook have become as ubiquitously a part of our life as cell phones, DVDs and, unfortunately, Justin Bieber. This development means that the same internet which originally purported to be able to connect us all, is finally doing just that. And once we finally ditched the glitter-gasm spam-fest that MySpace devolved into (and left it for the tweens, permanently "aspiring"... (more)
