Yes, a movie based on the NCAA legend is in the works. It seems a natural choice for a movie with films such as Remember the Titans and Glory Road preceding it. Glory Road if you don't remember, was based on the 1966 championship winning Texas Western team that would later become UTEP. The movie dealt with coach Don Haskins and his all-black starting lineup that would beat Adolf Rupp's Kentucky powerhouse team. Nolan Richardson himself attended Texas Western and was coached by Haskins himself. And with the racial barriers that Nolan busted through on his way to his own NCAA championship... Read More

If America has ever had an example of a sport's team that stands for the values the country claims to embody it is the San Antonio Spurs. When it comes to working hard, using great judgement and team work the San Antonio Spurs have demonstrated throughout this season, with their 19 straight victories, there 2 games to 0 lead against OC, that their success deserves to be recognized for an immaculate combination of teamwork, leadership, intelligence, and excellence.

The Spurs have however never been "America's Dream Team." This year they have tied for the best record in the league,... Read More

So, when I woke up this morning and saw that Syracuse University's basketball coach and assistant coach seem to have the same issues that we just heard about with Penn State's Paterno and company, I felt this gnawing feeling in the back of my mind. Then I started to think about the internal workings of the Catholic Church, which allowed (and still allow, in my humble opinion) the institution of a pedophile's version of Girls Gone Wild. Then I put two and two together, and here is what I got.

Is it possible that men like these—priests, coaches, etc.—find a safe haven in the men's clubs... Read More

I've got a baseball team you can buy. The Houston Astros are for sale and 500 million is about all they are worth, but that's not how much the current owners want for them.

On Friday, long time Astros owner Drayton McLane announced that the Astros are now up for sale. McLane and his family have owned the team 18 years. They bought the team for 171 million dollars in 1992. During their ownership tenure, the Astros have made 6 playoff appearances, the 2005 National League pennant and the opening of Minute Maid Park in 2000. McLane, who is 74, stated that one of the reasons he is selling... Read More

Okay, so we are about three weeks into the NBA’s regular season and as of the time I posted this blog, New York City’s most beloved basketball team, the Knicks are 3-6. I can’t speak for everyone in New York City, but I am already wondering, are we headed for another disastrous season? Well, in all honesty, it’s too early to tell. Nine games are not nearly enough to base a whole season on. It does, however tell me a little something. As a fan of the New York Knicks for as long as I can remember, I am seeing some things that are definitely repeating themselves. Let me be honest. I have... Read More

The other night I had the unfortunate experience of watching a Minnesota Timberwolves games. Needless to say it was a gut wrenching experience. I'm sure the T-Wolves front office will tell you that they are in rebuilding mode and are slowly developing a young core of players into a contending team. While that is great PR spin for the fans, the truth of the matter is Minnesota is a bad team that will continue to be a bad team for several years and the league would be better off without them.

The current NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement expires at the end of this season and rumors... Read More

So far the NBA season has played out pretty much as most people thought. The teams that people thought would be atop the standings are with very few surprises in the mix. Parity may be the name of the game in the NFL but in the NBA, there are the top teams and then there is everyone else.

In the Eastern Conference you have the Atlanta Hawks who were undefeated at 6-0 until Sunday night vs the Suns where they lost by 4 points. Then, there are the Boston Celtics at 6-1, Orlando Magic at 4-1, and the much hyped Miami Heat at 5-2. The Cleveland Cavaliers are next at 3-3 along with the... Read More
