If you happen to be looking at the sky tonight at about 7.26 p.m. pacific standard time, the moon will turn into a psychedelic red-orange color with hints of turquoise.

So if it's a clear night with no clouds, by all means get out of the house (if you are on the freeway don't get into any accidents) and indulge in the beauty of this rare universe moment called a "full moon eclipse" because the next one won't be visible till December 2010.

Here's the code behind the magic (from the bits and pieces I read): The "total eclipse" occurs when a full moon moves in the earth's shadow... Read More

I have been held hostage for the last 4 days by a Trojan Horse -- a virus so bad that it locked down my computer and left me stranded at my desktop, impotent and lost without my lifeline to the world.

You never realize just how much you depend on your computer until you're without it. It's my job, my hobby, my surrogate wife (don't tell my fiancee) and everything else, all contained in a little box in my office.

My first impression after all this havoc is--why do people go to all of the trouble to create these viruses? I know that vandalism is a part of life; hey, I trashed a... Read More

My very unscientific research into the field of penis related advertising started when I was given the job to check my boss’s emails. She, yes she, would get multiple emails a day asking her if she wanted to increase the size of her penis by 1 to 4 inches (depending on the duration of time she stayed on the pills), or if she was tired of its flaccidity and wanted a boost she could get 70% off some pills. Once the hilarity of seeing these emails subsided I got to wonder a few things, and wished I could get some answers.

Who are these companies? As a male in my twenties it would... Read More

I have relied on for my supply of books for as long as I can remember. Textbooks when I moved to New York for graduate school. Cookbooks when I moved in with a guy. Self help books when I broke up with another one. Amazon has been there for me in all the big moments in my life, knows my dirtiest secrets, is the first one to find out if I am going through a weird raw food or understanding men or understanding the universe phase, helps me sell some books when I am low on cash (that didn't go so well because last moment I would keep the books and refund the buyers), and knows what... February 18, 2009 is the deadline to convert to digital television. What are you talking about, I never asked for digital? Well that is a little complicated for this article; (see however it is either go digital or go dark. And no, you don’t have to buy a new television.

Now if you have cable or satellite you have no problem, your service company will deal with the problem. Even if you have an older television supposedly with digital the clarity is much better.

However if you are like me and still only watch the free stuff 2-13 (well free had a good... Read More

What would you do if you knew with certainty that the world would end in less than five years? I mean, not just speculation or conjecture -- but what if you really knew the exact date on which our entire civilization would cease to exist? How would it change your life?

I know what I’d do. First, I would tell my rather annoying boss to shove it (which would undoubtedly lead to my eventual termination), withdraw all of the money from my bank account and head to Europe to party and travel and just hitch hike around. I would probably make Amsterdam my headquarters, journeying from... Read More

Time Warner will possibly be the first high-speed Internet provider to switch to a totally new pricing structure.

The company is set to begin a trial run in Beaumont, TX in which it will sell high-speed Internet access in a tiered structure based on how much data is download per month.

I have a bad feeling about this. Internet access has become so cheap that companies like Time Warner are looking for new ways to increase profits.

This tiered pricing structure sounds disturbingly similar to the way cell phone minutes are priced. I don’t even use Time Warner, but... Read More
