I'm attempting to check in at the Los Angeles International Airport, at an electronic self check-in kiosk with Alaska Airlines. After having to start over a couple of times because of the conspiracy launched upon me by Travelocity and my printer to cut off the last and most important third of my confirmation e-mail, I finally find my flight on the system and swipe my passport. But then, as I think it's all over, instead of printing out a boarding pass, the screen reveals a message in big, red letters: "WE'RE SORRY, BUT WE ARE UNABLE TO CHECK YOU IN AT THIS TIME BECAUSE YOU ARE A TERRORIST."... This morning Sen. Barack Obama announced his candidacy for president declaring, "It was here, in Springfield, where North, South, East and West come together that I was reminded of the essential decency of the American people -- where I came to believe that through this decency, we can build a more hopeful America. And that is why, in the shadow of the Old State Capitol, where Lincoln once called on a divided house to stand together, where common hopes and common dreams still live, I stand before you today to announce my candidacy for president of the United States of America." The allusions... Read More

I debated and discussed politics quite a lot in college (and still do), and I have friends on all sides of the political spectrum, whom I love and respect. I piss off Conservatives with my social views, and Liberals with my fiscal views. But many people with different political views seem to be very curious about what is behind my libertarian views. Quite frankly, it was a misguided childhood (at least that's what I tell them). So here is a little autobiography about how it all came to be: I was born on a stormy December day. The air was crisp, as it always was that time of year. I remember... Read More

The name of this article, alone gives one chills. There is not an American alive today who has not set foot at least once in a local post office. There are very, very few who have come out of that same post office in less than 30 minutes. Is there a snowbal's chance in hell of the postmaster general of the United States reading this article? Probably not, but it can be said with certainty that anyone who does read this will readily identify with the subject. The United States Postal Service is actually given space within the Constitution. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says,"Congress... Read More

On the first of January, the state of California will raise its minimum wage. Moving on up from $6.75 an hour, sixty minutes of your time will now earn you a minimum of $7.50 per. That's a 11.1% increase, as California offers up the highest wages in the nation. I wondered how people would be impacted by the mandated largess by our elected officials. I set out to seek wisdom.

First, I discussed it with a friend who is a co-owner of a small chain of seven very busy pizzerias in Ventura County. I asked, "Well, my friend, how will you and your company handle this increased cost? Will you... Read More

This one took some time to get right, but here it is... The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. United States Constitution Amendment IV Ratified 1791 Most thumb-sucking crybaby liberals will hate this analysis of the Fourth Amendment just because it is not going to crucify the president and the NSA.... The latest opinion polls show George W. Bush with an approval rating of little more than 30%. Thirty percent! I have no idea what too so long, but finally, the country's had enough of him and his band of blunderers. So, why don't George W. Bush and his handler, Dick Cheney, just quit, taking the entire excuse for an administration with them? If they'd just pack up and leave - a la Richard Nixon - we would avoid the national trauma of endless federal investigations now threatened by the Democrats and the virtually guaranteed impeachment proceedings to follow. Tangentially, but also beneficially,... Read More
