Truth be told, gentle reader, even the French know very little about Belgium, despite these two countries' immediate proximity: they are indeed right next to each other, which is a source of immense shame for the apparently, eternally "arrogant" French; and a mixed blessing for the Belgians.

Why a mixed blessing, might you ask? Well on the one hand, France has reasonably pleasant weather, delicious food and wine, beautiful landscapes, the Eiffel Tower and much more. On the other hand, however, France is cursed with the presence of the some of more conceited humans ever to have walked... Read More

Egypt, the land of pyramids, deserts, and mysteries is not just a historical land but also one of the most preferred tourist destinations. It is a traveler's delight. Let me tell you about this magical "land of discovery.' No country on earth boasts of a longer recorded history than does Egypt- the Eternal Gift of Nile, goes the description of Egypt in the words of historian Herodotus. Egypt is said to be a land of antiques, pyramids, and massive temples. But the fact is that Egypt is much more than all this. Situated at the crossroads of Asia and Africa, Egypt is known for its prosperous... Read More

After a 10 hour flight from LA to Paris, a missed connection, and another 3 hour flight from Paris to Bucharest, here I am now in the capital of Romania. Unfortunately, my luggage decided not to come with me and stayed in Paris. Probably hanging out on the Champs Elysees drinking wine, I thought. How shallow. Anyways, they told me at the airport that it would be brought to my hotel the day after, which of course didn't happen. I therefore decided to go get it myself. The taxi appointed by my hotel to drive me to the airport and get my luggage back arrived in less than 5 minutes. I quickly... Read More

I'm flying out from LAX today, for the first time since the terrorist attack was foiled by the British police earlier this month. This triggered a whole new set of security measures forbidding any liquids in carry-on luggages, further tightening the security checks at the airport. I arrived 3 hours before my flight as advised by the travel agency. The line for baggage check-in was pretty long and somewhat out of control as I was expecting on this 3 day labor day weekend. However everything went pretty smoothly for me at least, but it seemed like the limitations in terms of baggage weight... Read More

When I was working for the Italian leather upholstery company Natuzzi, which is located in a town called Santeramo, I used to stay in the next town over called Gioia Del Colle. The name of this town directly translates to “Joy of the hills”, or “Jewel of the hills”. Legend has it, that this name came about when Biancalancia, wife of Emperor Frederick II, was riding her horse through these beautiful hills, and at some point she realized she had lost her necklace. It was a beautiful string of pearls. She searched and searched for them, but they were never found. Despite the loss of her jewels,... Read More
