In a world with social networking sites as a basis for a lot of our communication, it's sometimes hard to form "real" and "true" relationships right off the bat, and nor should or do you have to for that matter. However, people feel they can form true opinions of you from your "status updates". Granted, some of them speak volumes about some of us, however, there are those that people try to dig deeper into, and suddenly want to solicit advice and become your therapist. Sometimes, I REALLY do just want to sit in the dark and watch a sad movie because crying feels really good. Plus, I'm an... Read More
This past Saturday I stood back in a familiar place: on a padded cheer floor about an hour from my apartment, in front of a table full of judges, standing beside thirty or so impossibly fit men and women, my wrists secured with athletic tape, and with a fresh sweat dripping down my back from warming up. Nearly 18 months after dismissal by the team, triple-fusion spine surgery and a month removed from my 35th birthday, I was back at Clippers Fan Patrol tryouts.Just so I don't ruin the suspense for you, I didn't make the team. But, in defense of that failure, I didn't actually try out.... Read More

Putting people in prisons, has not made a difference in crime other than possibly increasing it, sophisticating it, and running out of room in prisons to house, feed, and medically take care of inmates, who are not changing their behaviors that got them in prison or jail in the first place. So what can be done differently?

It goes without saying that the current season should coerce us to have a brisk walk and a little step in our movements. We should be enjoying the sunny incidences and pronouncing joyful cheer to everyone who comes our way. Nature has a way of humbling us…remember those lovely hot days we enjoyed just a few weeks back, several of us may have muttered incoherrent rumblings about the hot spells and how it felt terrible to endure sun burn, heat rash and all those other bits that come with the hot weather. Then the pollen count started to rise, we hank…chewed and rushed to the... Read More
