The government is supposed to be there to help us, but very often their policies leave me wondering what their true intentions are. I have this belief because the government is not a good resource for nutritional information. That fact is proven in that they rarely ever update the information they distribute to their citizens. You never hear the government say anything more than telling you to watch your calorie count. That is obscenely vague to the point it is harmful. That is because it is now known that calories from carbs are not equal to those from protein. The truth of the matter is that... Read More

Our brains are highly sophisticated machines capable of producing amazing things. Sometimes it can feel almost like a computer that has a virus though because our emotions can hold us back. We often doubt ourselves unnecessarily and live in a state of paranoia that can seem like a nightmare that never ends. Many forget that we do indeed control our lives, and even in a state of panic there is a right way and wrong way to think. Anxiety is ingrained into us to help us, but only if we let it.

As much as it is our brains fault, we must take responsibility for the behaviors in our lives.... Read More

When I spoke to Elaine on the phone last week she was everything I had imagined her to be. With her charming southern accent, warm open and loquacious personality, I immediately connected with her. Actually I could hardly contain my enthusiasm, cutting her off many times. Elaine suggested that we talk about the times we spoke to our daughters about sexuality, menstruation in particular,

"I am sure that you are an expert, since you have six daughters!"

I panicked because I was awkward when I did speak to my girls. I hated to admit this to Elaine but we shared laughter when we discovered... Read More

Losing weight is one of the most frustrating experiences that someone can attempt to endure. The reason it can be so frustrating is not just for one reason, but many. That is because successfully losing weight is a multi dimensional process for true longterm success. It is one part knowledge, one part hard-work, and one part marathon that we must truly be invested in to gain the success we want. The good news is that I firmly believe that I can help you achieve your goals, but only if you really want it.

Why do we eat what we eat? This right here is the biggest problem I come across... Read More

For some (like me), the never-ending up and down experiences have been, to some degree, rather traumatizing. And because there isn’t a manual, per say, I thought I’d brave to share just a little of what my life has been since becoming menopausal, and much of which have become embarrassing moments.

Sure, there is plenty of information out there, in books and on the internet, on what symptoms to expect: hot flashes, night sweats, loss of libido, mood swings, fatigue, sleep disorder, difficulty concentrating, memory lapses, weight gain, depression, anxiety, irritability, headaches, joint... Reading this some people might laugh off the implication that there is anything wrong with them, others might nervously skim the rest of this post. This question is far from ridiculous, though. Have you taken a good look around lately? What do you see and hear?

The whole atmosphere of modern society is stressful because people are anxious about the economy and their job security. They have problems sleeping or self medicate with alcohol, drugs and cigarettes to help 'take the edge off'. More and more sick days are the result of depression and other mental health issues. However it... Read More

These are times when I refuse to look at myself in the mirror and try instead to drown-out the voices of discouragement, lest I come to really hate what I see. And as the battle rages on, I am suddenly whisked-away by another voice, my dear Lancelot Knight’s, simple and sincere, “I love you and like you just as you are.”

Nothing could pull me out of the pit of despair faster than hearing my hubby say he loves me, and loves me just as I am! But just as I am, is an ever changing chameleon, ceaselessly morphing in and out. It is like time-traveling and finding myself inside someone else’s... Read More
