For those that do not already know me, I am a food blogger, a blogger - that like most, just wants to sit, write, drink large amounts of caffeine and project my thoughts and recipes onto a computer screen in the hope that few or many will read them. Also like many I have this un realistic idea that I should be able to do just that without any form of punishment, I mean it's not like I'm doing anything wrong is it?

So why then does the giant internet eating machine that is google want to penalize the hard working blogger for no apparent reason, and if there is a reason then why not use... Read More

Getting Noticed with Your Blog Content

If you’re new to blogging, it can seem impossible to make a name for yourself among the hundreds, or more likely thousands, of bloggers out there covering the same topic, but don’t let that discourage you. Everyone had to start somewhere. I've compiled a list of ten things that worked for me. Of course, not every technique will be right for your blog; hopefully, these techniques will help you build a foundation for success over time.

1. Write good content. This one should come as no surprise to you. If you write amazing content, you’ll attract... Read More

The fact is unless you are well known and have achieved celeb status prior to blogging you’re going to need help to get your blog discovered. Yes, I am certain there are some exceptions, where a blogger wrote an “EPIC” post and she got the book deal or Oprah invited her to be on the show – though don’t get trapped into believing that this is the norm. It is not. Ninety nine.99 percent of bloggers barely have enough time to produce consistent, quality content.

Yes you need both “consistent” and “quality” content to do well online. With the magnitude of content online in order to generate... Read More

LEO TROLLSTOY. Born 1830. Died.

Surprisingly pronounced dead by attending physicians the instant he died. A brilliant man but shunned by his village. It was later discovered that there were no other villagers...and no village to house them even if there were.

Needless to say, this didn't prevent Leo from becoming top of his non-existent village class.

You see the young Trollstoy went DOWN head over heels over history, (tripped over a pile of war and pieces...left over from an unpeaceful war) as the verbal jingoizimical... Read More

Google released its iOS Maps app tonight (Get it here. )

The app is a welcome addition for many iPhone users, that have been displeased with the Apple-made "replacement".

Google Maps was a pre-installed iPhone app when the iPone first launched, however Apple bounced the Google Map App in September when they released iOS 6. The reason for the change in heart?

Apple was not pleased that Google did not include voice navigation for Apple's map app and the company believed that "Requiring iPhone users to look directly at handsets for directions and manually move through... Read More

DreamQuest Games' Alpha Colony Kickstarter campaign ended today $28 short of its $50,000 funding goal.

Posting to its Facebook page, the game's developer expressed disappointment at coming so close to meeting the goal only to have the project fall through because of $28. The statement read:

"Thank you all for your support, but I am afraid that we came up $28 short. Kickstarter is very strict about their terms and our project will not be funded. Obviously, we are very disappointed. We have invested 10 months and over $60,000 of our own money into this project. It is so... Read More

School Time VerbsThese words made my eyes roll into the back of my skull in public education: noun, verb, adjective, adverb, pronoun, etc. In fact, they still numb my mind, and as an English professor I avoid them as much as possible. They turn language into a perverse form of mathematics. Grammar turns students off.In school we get so caught up in identifying subjects and verbs that we forget the language, the beauty and power of unique sentences. Worksheet after worksheet in school made mundane work of language.

Verbs Defined, BoringTechnically, the definition of verbs makes them... Read More
