Inspiration for the last 2.5 hours started by inspiration of my surroundings and by who had influenced me during my childhood.

French Street. North Sydney was where my Private Francis had grown up. Many months of research to find the home, the start of the journey that would be documented in some parts by In The Cross Fire.

As I walked away from French Street, the words from the Banksia Man rang loud and clear. Why?

This was circling in my head, Why had I stopped and listened and nobody else had. It was a Sunny afternoon in January. I arrived at my car, thinking I... Read More

To kind of paint you a picture of what it was like on an average day in the drop-in, let me give you a little info so you can maybe visualize it better. I know when I started working there I truly had no idea how much I would love and hate it at the same time. The love part came with my ability to see beauty in all people . I just usually choose to focus on the positive no matter what the situation. Working there that certainly was a helpful thing. The hate part came from the frustration of knowing I could do so much more. Unfortunately when you work for non-profit there is only so... Read More

No matter who you work with, marry, be-friend, date, parent, or live beside, sooner or later there’ll be personality traits which you don’t agree with, or find uncomfortable to be around. We’re all created differently, are an original masterpiece created by God, and like any living thing, there are no two of us exactly alike. It’s what makes the human race such an incredibly diverse body of souls. But, how we interact, and appreciate each others positive and negative qualities is more about our personality rather than the individuals inside our target zone.

I’ve always enjoyed the answers... Read More

Why is it that bad things happen to good people? We’ve all asked that question from time to time but when it hits home it carries even more meaning. We struggle to understand the logic in it but soon we find that we just are not meant to understand everything that happens in life. We hear our troubles and problems in life will make us stronger, better people. These statements are so easy to make when you are on the outside looking in but when you are in the midst of it – it’s not so easy. Rephrasing the first sentence I think it wiser for us to ask, what our role is when bad things happen... Read More

I was sitting in a church auditorium recently, listening to a preacher talk about the power words have on us all, both written and spoken, and the great impact they convey to those around us. It was a well articulated speech, causing me to think about how large a role words play in our lives.

Words are extremely powerful— carrying the strength to heal or wound, encourage or discourage, speak truth or deceive, praise or criticize. In fact, the Bible says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. Since that’s true, controlling what we say and how we say it is one of the most... Read More

What lies ahead? What’s in your future? Are you ready to take the plunge and find out? Are you really ready to move forward? Sometimes that’s a difficult question to answer. You may say “yes” without so much as a hesitation, until you think about all it requires. For a moment, imagine yourself at the end of a high diving board looking down. You may have the jitters, maybe even some fear and dread mixed in. You may also experience excitement and wonder. Logically you have two pretty simple options. You can be brave and jump or you can shimmy back to the ladder the way you came... Read More

Today as I was looking at Wanda our lovely Hibiscus tree. I got to thinking about her seeds. Now work with me here okay?

Imagine for a minute that your mind was a greenhouse. Your greenhouse needs to be taken care of and managed to produce well right? OK so now consider that your thoughts are seeds. Now, as we have found with Wanda’s seeds – some are healthy and some are not. The healthy ones we will keep and nurture into healthy lovely plants. The not so healthy ones will be tossed away. We should be doing this with our thoughts. Take a good thought, a pleasing thought,... Read More
