Today I saw a movie by name OH MY GOD and certainly, that moved me a lot. We all, so casually sign contracts to agree upon the contractual obligations, that on account of losses due to Act of God, the insurance cover is not available. Conveniently the God is inserted in the legal documents and THE GODS ACT CANNOT BE CHALLENGED IN ANY COURT OF LAW…However, in this movie a petitioner who incurs huge losses on account of, request court to summon messengers/custodians of God into the court for compensation. He pleads that since it is an ACT OF GOD, the God must compensate him and that’s how he... Read More

Our farm animals were so full of character, their antics alone will be the subject of many upcoming stories. Of course, the kids were always entertained by the farm animals but my husband and I were as well. Michael especially enjoyed his intelligent pigs, believing that when animals felt loved, they related to people in extraordinary ways. It is true that when my husband scratched, behind his beloved pig's ears, they actually fell asleep. Then there was Daisy, our goat, and our pony Starlight who both tried to get into the house because they considered themselves part of the family. Actually,... Read More

I sit at my computer all Saturday, and this is the place I should be. I begin early with ambition, 5:00 AM. Blank white windows on my Mac's Retina screen await my brilliant ideas, and my mind is bubbling with them. But I wait to write because I need to research my ideas. I can't just whip out whatever slop comes to my mind. No, I need some scholarship to support my ideas and clarify my thinking.Hours pass as I not only read too much about my topic but spend time promoting my blog, sending emails, feeding children, and raking some dry yellow leaves that have fallen from my backyard birch.... Children are like sponges; they absorb values, attitudes, culture and spirituality simply through osmosis. However, it goes deeper than that. Children's spirituality is not simply taught, it rises from within as they listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in their own hearts. Often what came out of our children's mouths surprised and startled us. Yet both my husband and I were often aware of the deep spirituality that flowed from our children to us as well as from us as parents to our offspring.

For example, I was rocking newborn Mara, one afternoon, while eighteen-month old Melissa... Read More

One afternoon, I was making dinner, standing at the counter with my back to our three youngest children. Katie and Anthony were lounging around the kitchen table, with three-year-old Lucy perched like a little elf on a high stool, happily swinging her legs.

Simply making conversation, Katie who was about eight, asked Lucy,

"Lucy, whose your favorite, mum or dad?"

Lucy replied,"Both!"

Still facing the counter, I looked over my shoulder and intruded on their conversation,

"Smart answer, Lucy."

Lucy was not done, though,

"But she's not my real mum,... Read More

Do you show respect to others in your life? Do they show the same to you? What do you regard as respectful behavior? Is it merely doing as one says when they say they'll do it, or does it dive much deeper than that, demonstrating by not only backing up what one says, as much as one does? According to Wikipedia, the definition of respect is: "Respect gives a positive feeling of esteem or deference for a person or other entity (such as a nation or a religion), and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem. Respect can be a specific feeling of regard for the actual... Read More

Michael's father, a police officer, had given our family free tickets to a large three-ring circus production that the police department were sponsoring. Of course after a few hours, the flashing lights, loud music, breath-taking suspense, excitement and cotton candy overstimulated all six kids. Rather than playing like they usually did, everyone was hyperactive, yelling and becoming increasingly agitated.

It was obvious that I needed to intervene and help them unwind. I don't like sticking kids in front of the T.V. but this was an emergency. None of the kids could believe their good... Read More
