Jimmy Root Jr., has served as an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God since 1982, including service in Nebraska, Missouri, and a seven year term as a missionary in Colombia, South America. Jimmy is the lead Pastor of Family Worship Center of Smithville, a growing suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. Married to his wife Jean for twenty-nine years, the Roots have three grown children.

His writings, both in book form as well as his blog, are purposed to be a wake-up call to a sleepy American church that seems to be losing a truly Christian World View. Distant Thunder and its... Read More

Ed's Note: I am currently editing a series of books for a gentleman named Charles Speer. His first book of a trilogy he's writing is called "An American Fable". It's a very engrossing historical novel that I think many Broo readers might enjoy. Here's his story:

In this upscale neighborhood of San Francisco, Charlie Speer, a 73-year-old retired CPA, spends his days writing his fictional philosophy, and maintaining his blog, His much-anticipated new Web site,, will soon be up and running.

“The names have been changed to protect the innocent,” jokes novelist Wendy Wax about her new book The Accidental Bestseller. “It’s not a roman a clef, but I admit that parts of it are somewhat autobiographical. A few people may think they recognize themselves, but the real life experiences at its core are actually compilations of my own and other authors’ agonies, ecstasies and observations.” The novel centers on a writer who, with her editor gone and her sales in a slump, discovers how merciless the business of book publishing can be. I saw Vincent Bugliosi speak at The Commonwealth Club in San Francisco this week. He was in town to talk about his new book that claims Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. For the last eight years, Bugliosi has worked on the book, entitled "Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy." In his book, Bugliosi laughs at all of the conspiracy theories associated with the JFK assassination. "Pure moonshine," he calls them. Mr. Bugliosi, 72, the former Los Angeles County deputy district attorney who won a conviction of Charles Manson... Read More

I don't know if it is truly rare to meet an incredibly deep person, or an abnormally sensitive or intelligent one. Somewhere I think we all possess mountains of these wonderful qualities which define us as a community of humans. What I will say is this: it is unbelievably rare to find a person who, through deep soul searching, introspection, and tireless scrutiny of the outside world has managed to raise from the depths so much of himself and make what most of us feel as subconscious or barely cogniscent float so close to the surface. It is a rare gift to truly be able to share of oneself;... Read More

The Writer's Ego

Very interesting train of thoughts, but I found myself asking, what about those that write under a ghost it to keep their privacy, or perhaps lack of ego...I actually can see both sides, especially when you are talking about writing fiction....
