Love Is Eternal

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Apr 28, 2013

Love creates in abundance

Also, having the power to rip apart

Within contained the breath of life

Sometimes leaving us gasping ...

Finding within this love

All we ever wanted, needed . sought

Our hearts so vulnerable

Rational is left wanting...

Love heals our afflictions

Wounds us beyond any measure

Enveloping of treasures

Beyond reasoning...

Never is it truly gone

Even death can not... (more)

Healing Hands

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Apr 23, 2013

In the twilight of this eclipse

As if a perfect painting of

My resplendent contemplation...

A thunderous current of emotions

Dancing inside my quieted essence

The reign of silence and solitude...

Let me knell in veneration

Humbled by the breathe of Him

Who knows my heart...

In this womb of all that was

Meant to be my destiny

Gently touching these memories...

This moon soaked visage

Can not touch or reflect

Adorations of my life....

Held in free inspiration... (more)

Herbie, So Happy To Know You Are No Longer Billy the Kid

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Apr 18, 2013

I recently heard some very interesting news about a man I had worked with in the drop-in...a very difficult case. If I am totally honest, I use to worry what would happen next with this man. My reason for the worry, was he had a tendency to be violent at times. Few people could relate in any way with him...but it was my job to keep this, and him under control.

Herbie had severe Paranoid Schizophrenia. He seemed to have lost total touch with reality. Let me tell you a few things that I had to deal with on an everyday basis. I never knew what was coming next with him. One day,... (more)

Falling Into Peace

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Apr 6, 2013

As I lay in despair

At the bottom of the stairs

It has taken me years to

Ascend the summit

Only to fall to the abyss...

"Why?", I cry out to you

As I lay weeping and lost

Cursing life and bewildered

"It's not fair" , what do I need to learn

That you have struck such sorrow upon me...

Surrendering, no more will to fight

Hope has certainly taken flight

Then from a distance I look upon

A light so bright I lose my breathe

Clarity shining when nothing was left...

You... (more)

Will Tim Horton's get On Board? Do The Right Thing....

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 31, 2013

Having recently seen this posted on Facebook by a dear friend, my friend and I thought that we should make Tim Horton's aware of this with the intention that they may get on board and have this also running in their stores. Timmie's is Number One in Canada, and I am sure that this would help so many people ...let's just see what they will do. Also a petition may be started for this. We all can do our part to better this world, this is a perfect example of how...

Window To My Heart

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 31, 2013

There is a window from my heart to yours

We opened this with trust, laid our souls bare

Inhaling your breathe within my being

Trusting in the sacred power of love....

When I heard my first love song

I knew I would find my way to you

I started searching for you long ago

Waiting patiently for God to bless us...

Love does not come to us on our terms

It is destiny flown on wings of hope

Neither can we control or demand love

It is freely gifted as grace from above....

We did not meet somewhere

Letting Go and Finding Peace

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 26, 2013

In order to actually let go of something that is holding us back, we have to analyze the feelings associated with it. It is very interesting, although we think it is anger we feel, in reality it is perhaps hurt. That is the thing about emotions, they can blend and being totally honest with ourselves to get to the core of what we are feeling can be confusing. This is a very hard process when we are talking negative emotions, which we do not want to acknowledge to ourselves, let alone someone else.

Powerful emotions like love, regret, anger, grief, fear, hopelessness,... (more)

The Sessions

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 18, 2013

I just watched such a beautiful movie that I felt I had to pass this on. It was not a main stream known movie, but rather an independent drama written and directed by Ben Levin. The Surrogate , debuted at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival , where it won the Audience Award (U.S. Dramatic) and a U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Prize for Ensemble Acting. It was later named The Sessions. Helen Hunt was nominated best supporting actress (2012) for her role as the sex surrogate.

Based on the true story of the life of Mark O'Brien, a journalist, poet, and advocate for the disabled... (more)

Do The Right Thing, Bloggers Unite...The Power Of Love

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 15, 2013

After over 25 years working in social services and with many types of issues, if I have learned anything, it is that we all have the ability to make a difference in this world. I have witnessed this over and over again. Too often people are written off in our "throw away" society. Let me explain what I mean by this...and I am certainly not saying this is always the case. I would like to think that as society has become more educated ; they have a better understanding and have more compassion thus. I always say "walk a mile in someones shoes before you judge them " . This certainly would... (more)

Eternal Gratitude

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 13, 2013

Tears flowing in thankfulness

Of all gifts bestowed undeserved

Given like a river in the desert

Quenching my barren heart...

Life brings the wind fiercely

Dissipated dreams broken

Lost in a sea of regret

Lessons learned through pain...

My parched soul longing

Finding strength within this blessing

Eradicating all repentance

Discovering the eternal fountain of life...

The earth shuddered

Shaking to awaken my soul

The swell of tears released

Surrendered to God's love...
