Redskins and Eagles. The Spat Over Spit

By BusinessLife, published on Nov 17, 2010

The NFL is investigating Philadelphia center Mike McGlynn's claim that Washington safety LaRon Landry spit in his face twice during the Eagles' 59-28 victory over the host Redskins Monday night. This is the second such investigation in a week.

"Landry came and spit in my face, and that fired us all up," McGlynn told the Philadelphia Daily News. "We were looking to really put the afterburners on them. It's good to see that we came out and score 60 points, almost. We all want to play the game with all the respect in the world, but when you're disrespectful like that. ... I just... (more)

By BusinessLife, published on Nov 17, 2010

I think of you as I take a breath.I want your eyes on me no less.

I can't stop wondering how time progressed,Without your touch upon my breast.

I need the sense of you near me.I need the scent of you on me.

I want to feel your warm, soft skin. It's your strong arms I ache to be in.I know the moments seem long apartWhen you and I share heart to heartThe laugh of life an love of spiritI know you understand and hear it.Because as I breathe in and I exhale,I realize to no avail,That my love, my life, my soul, my heartIs yours alone to set apartI choose to give my love in fullAs... (more)

Ready To Turn Up 'The Broo?'

By BusinessLife, published on Nov 5, 2010

It's exciting to read so much chatter and talk about Broo, what it was, what it is and what is wanted from the talented pool of writers who share their stories, their thoughts, opinions and their hearts.

One thing is certain. With so much talk about increasing page views and site rankings for writers' blogs, it makes sense to work together to increase traffic for The Broo, passing along the readership to the writers who offer a plethora of materials and subject matter to keep even the most finicky reader clicking to view one article after another.

At the end of our efforts will... (more)

Experience Effective Communication By Hangin' With Arborists

By BusinessLife, published on Nov 4, 2010

My first introduction to arborists was through SherrillTree, a company based in Greensboro, NC that provides quality tree gear and supplies to arborists worldwide. With facilitators on hand, I learned how to climb trees with a rope-assisted method that does no harm to the trees at all. That’s right. No spikes! It’s called, recreational tree climbing. It’s a great activity for the entire family. My 9 and 13 year old boys have climbed a few times and are mini pros at this outdoor activity. Better tree climbing with a rope-assisted system than climbing up on your own. It’s also a terrific... (more)

Middle School Sports - Football Mom Gets 'Schooled' By Son

By BusinessLife, published on Nov 3, 2010

It had come to this moment. My 13 year-old son, Jordan was dressed in a football uniform and ready to take the field. The only problem was, would one of the coaches call his name? It had been a long football season already. In fact, there was only one more game left to play after today.

As I sat in the stands outside my son's middle school, I scanned the sidelines on the other side to find my son. The middle school only had bleachers on one side. The visiting team was in front of the bleachers and in front of all of the moms, dads, sisters, brothers, grandparents, cousins, neighbors... (more)

New Business: It's A Full-Time Commitment To Your Brand

By BusinessLife, published on Nov 2, 2010

Taking the time to develop a new business department is essential within an ad agency. But don’t expect results if you leave the department without someone to handle the day-to-day management of new business. Gaining new business takes the dedication and day-to-day focus of at least one full-time employee. Unless you are seeing new business walking in the door daily, you need a concerted effort applied toward connecting with the right target market most likely to need your products and services.

1) It’s hard to grow much of anything with so many weeds.

a.) Keep your information... (more)

Jewels Hold No Value For Me

By BusinessLife, published on Oct 23, 2010

Somewhere in my heart, lies a wounded child. She cries at night, alone, and sinks into the shadows of my soul. She sings a tragic melody of love, untouched and life un-lived. She is the bittersweet truth that haunts my shattered past and draws upon the blood of my survival.

Won't you walk with me awhile and share the sustenance of compassion? I have traveled from far away just for a breath of kindness to toss my windblown hair from my solemn and scarred, stone face. There is love to be found. I am more than what is seen, though still a lost soul, looking for your guidance to even fathom... (more)
