I Exist

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Apr 3, 2014

I know not why I came or where I will go but I do know that I am here, I exist...

In this world beset with pleasure and pain in the mist of uncertainly There is a higher truth shining brightly Calling my soul to a deeper knowing...

In knowing that this planet exists , although I know not why While I am here. let me illuminate with encouragement...

I do not find all the answers in my searching I see enough to make me embrace these blessings in faith Carried forward with my vulnerable heart...

The trouble I see is there is not enough hope To trust in the divine faith... (more)

A Light In The Darkness

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 20, 2014

If the darkness were my friend and did not make me weep in pain

I would reach out in my mind to embrace far away emotions

I would breath your caress brushing my skin , a nocturnal gush

In the dim forefront of my cherished memories I would dance with your smile inside my heart....

If the darkness was a gracious dream a memory birthed in fetal time

I would hold tightly to distant memories and still be with you in time passed by

You waited with the frail hold you had to life waiting for my forgiveness before you passed on

I know you heard my prayer... (more)

How Are You?

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 11, 2014

FINE usually means Feelings Inside Not Expressed! I read this and thought very interesting and very true. How often have you been in some kind of emotional or physical pain when someone close to you asked “How are you doing?” and you, in spite of the pain, said, “I’m fine,”knowing full well you weren’t?

It is true that when someone asks us how we are, we tend to respond with “I’m fine.” And the truth is that we are more often than not… NOT FINE when we say it.

Usually, the response “I’m fine” is an attempt to hide. Of course, the answer you... (more)

For All I Know

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Mar 6, 2014

What is this secret blowing in the wind tonight?

Gently cutting it's unique course

On what plain will it alight?

Perhaps within my heart....

What is that dark shadow dancing on the horizon tonight?

Tracking. sliding, sleuthing, tumbling

Where will it find composure ?

Perhaps inside my essence....

What dream is this transposed?

Freely masquerading in pretense

Where will it land?

Perhaps inside my soul....

The universe trembles in a loud sigh

The lovers finding their emancipation

The child whimpers... (more)

Tranquil Thoughts

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Feb 27, 2014

In appreciation I lift my head to gaze at the skylight

My eyes caressed by the radiant moonlight

Blessings as ephemeral clouds dance on the horizon

Slowly moving as if serenading my wanting heart

Lifting my arms to embrace these twinkling stars

Pressing them closely with the warmth of affection

Wrapped in this blanket of peace and serenity

I linger not wishing to leave this godly place

Created within my own loving heart

I call it my own through sweet surrender

Basking, secure in the harmony of benevolence

Knowing... (more)

What Do You Like About Yourself ?

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Feb 14, 2014

What Do You Like About Yourself ?

It's kind of strange, but for some reason people struggle with answering this more so than if you ask them what they don't like about themselves. Seems they can come up with quite a list of negatives, but the positives things are harder for them to acknowledge.

Sometimes, we spend so much time thinking about our faults, and our weaknesses that we overlook everything that is precious and beautiful about ourselves.

So, I thought I'd ask the question:

What do you like about yourself?

It may be things about your body, your... (more)

Exploding anger Spilling forth Bitter Abomination Creating a tsunami Of torment Flooding the heart Each person becoming A virus within them selves Feasting like a piranha Slaughtered in the frenzy Flesh and bones At times consuming one's self As he eats others Anguished venom Animosity poisoning the wind No unadulterated air Lingering on Until the dust settles Residual of broken bones Spirits berated in sorrow Collecting these puzzles to life Praying for harmony Where there is no Beginning or end..... What Are You Proud Of ?

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 26, 2013

Have you ever felt it a bit odd when people say they are proud of their race, their skin color or even the country they are born in. All these things have absolutely nothing to do with you...they are just the "luck of the draw" or fate, which is outside of your control.

Seems to me if we want to be proud of something, it should entail all the important good things we have worked hard to achieve or create. Something which represents who you are and what you place value in; of which you are an active participant and have made it a priority in your life.

Pride can have both negative... (more)

This Game Of Life

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 2, 2013

This world is too foreign to me

Often my heart is breaking

Not knowing how to see

Children hungry for

Love, food, kindness

I can't watch others cry and moan

Without it pulling at my heartstrings

I breathe their pain into me

Hoping to somehow

Lessen their affliction

Experience has never taught me

To walk away from those who

Need a comforting word, hug

Acknowledgment of their despondency

A simple gesture of compassion

WHY CAN... (more)

Lessons Through Pain

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 22, 2013

This tribulation planted

Instilled within my soul

Deeper than deep

Wider than forever

I tried through grace to

Dig it out, leave it shattered

On the path of benevolence

Poisoned with anger

Healed with love

Still swaddled uninvited

Choking my heart beats

Leaving me drenched

Cataclysm overflowing

Cascading torrents

A waterfall descending

Plummeting itself

Beyond the abyss

My eyes raining down

Mocking my song

Unsung in this affliction
