Languages are profoundly embedded with the essence of culture, civilization and various aspects of intermixing between nations. It develops after transitioning constantly and blending effectively to keep growing and proliferating. But, they work in eerie ways; a person could be exhibiting the same action in two different words understood by two different nations and spoken by two different countries. This is where communication is brought to the platform and a method of conveying the messages presents itself through translation to Icelandic.
Icelandic language originated primarily from the German languages carrying a hint of the English vocabulary inside itself. It has some similarity with the English language in terms of its grammar and certain words showcasing the same meaning. According to a fair estimate, the number of people speaking and communicating in the Icelandic has rose to 350,000 by this year.
One of the oldest languages to date, Icelandic has been known to retract changes over thousand years hence Icelanders hint this procurance as their prideful ability. It may carry the essence of English, but it has certain additional letters that are not found in the English dictionary. Similarly, some letters of the English language like c, q, w, and z will not be found in normal speech of native Icelanders.
This brings those words into view which to date, have not been directly translated into coherent words from the English language. although, they may be roughly converted into meanings which may provide a general idea, but they fail to directly transcribe into proper vocabulary which is very queer since the roots of both the languages arise from the German languages and they have shown quite a similarity between them.
These words carry a diversified meaning apart from their origin, which holds a representation of the culture on the behalf of Icelanders. Some of the words that cannot be directly changed into English words, unless conversions through translation to Icelandic are performed, are as follows;

The word that can go well with anything is the word; Jæja. You may be prone to going out, avoiding doing a task, exclaiming a certain emotion or merely starting a conversation, all you need to learn is this word and Icelanders can work you through several tasks of your daily routine.
This is one of my favorites as it concerns food-obviously but the mere attribution of itself being accompanied with several meanings is what gives tjis word the boost. Álegg basically means anything that can be put on the bread, you name it, whether you have a queer craving that you wish to tend to in the middle of the night or a normal sandwich that is known all over the world, you can refer it by this particular word. It provides the bread with what a cup of frozen yoghurt does with toppings.
You know that feeling of getting up and walking to the window to see the weather dripping with its beautiful shine upon the glass where it is the perfect blend of coziness and cold breeze reflecting down the window, that window weather is what this word describes beautifully and it is almost sad that English does not have a proper word dedicated to that feeling.
Takk fyrir síðast:
