Summer is on the horizon and with the odd beautiful days we’ve already been given, many of us are turning our thoughts to how we’re going to spend our time.
If you’re anything like me, then you might find that after a few days of just laying around in the sun, you’re ready for more. That’s why I’ve put together this list for you of my top things to try this summer.
Go to an open air movie
With summer in this country lasting all of a couple of months, there really isn’t much time in the year to squeeze this wonderful experience in. Nobody wants to sit in the rain for a couple of hours, nor the wind or cold for that matter, so when the summer months draw near do start thinking about when you’re going to squeeze in this not to be missed activity. I don’t know what it is about seeing a movie outdoors, but there’s definitely something magical about it. Lounging with friends on a warm summers evening and seeing a favourite flick is good for the soul and something you’ll remember forever. Many places across the UK are hosting pop up cinema events in the good weather this year so keep an eye on what’s happening local to you. Or you could contact a company that specialize in luxury outdoor cinema events and see which stunning location they’re appearing in next.
Have a bonfire on the beach
Again, this is a magical experience with a fantastic atmosphere that everyone should experience at least once in their life, though you might find you want to go back every year! Whilst you’ve got the fire to keep you warm, you may well get blown away by the sea air in the winter – so this is definitely a summer event. Many seaside towns host bonfire parties over the summer. To find out if there’s such and even happening near you speak to the locals or search online. If you want to do your own bonfire on the beach you will need to check with the local council to make sure that’s ok.
Go clay pigeon shooting
This is an outdoor activity so best practised in summer and at many locations you’ll get to enjoy beautiful views too! Clay pigeon shooting is great fun for all the family. Shooting a gun is an exhilarating experience you’ll never forget. Book a course of lessons at a local shooting school. It’ll give you something new and different to do every week and since the summer is outside of shooting season, most schools have great deals on block bookings.
Even if you think you’re not much of a walker, I challenge you to try hiking just once. The experience is something that is just out of this world. Many people go hiking in search of inner peace. It’s a way to escape from your hectic life and all of the stress that you endure on a daily basis. Hiking is a great way to spend some time alone as well as to relish the joy of nature. Some of the most beautiful views in the world can only be experience by walking there. And of course another great perk of hiking is that it’s totally free!
Go to a carnival
Summer is carnival season and there’s just no experience like it! The colours, the costumes, the music, the vibe – you just won’t find it anywhere else like a carnival. It’s a party like no other and it lasts all day! There are some not to be missed carnivals right here in the UK – Notting Hill, Acton and Brazilica Festival in Liverpool – just to name a few. Our beloved Google will have names and dates for you. Definitely try to squeeze in a couple this summer.
