The delay was voted for in the House of Representatives on Saturday night

The US government is almost guaranteed to shut down on Monday night after House Republicans voted in favour of a temporary spending bill that includes a one-year delay for Obamacare. The Republican-led House of Representatives passed the proposal by 231 votes to 192 in one of two amendments attached to a Senate spending bill passed on Friday night. "I don't think we're near the precipice of a shutdown," said House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer. "We are on the precipice."

Endorsements on the Audie Murphy Presidential Medal of Freedom Petition read like a VIP address book. Distinguished Americans such as Melvin Laird, Bob Dole, General Tommy Franks, Charlie Duke, Toby Keith, Dan Rather, Barbara Eden and countless others too numerous to mention.

In addition to those named above, three-fourths of the 79 living Medal of Honor recipients have offered forth their endorsements.

Finally, representing service over seven decades to America, nearly 100 generals and admirals have endorsed the petition. These flag officers represent every branch of service... Read More

Millions in Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York were at risk

The US Air Force almost detonated a huge atomic bomb over North Carolina in 1961, a newly declassified document has revealed.

Two hydrogen bombs were accidentally dropped over the city of Goldsboro just two days after President John F Kennedy's inauguration, when the B-52 plane carrying them broke up in mid-air.

And a report obtained by investigative journalist Eric Schlosser under freedom of information laws showed one of the devices began... Read More

Audie Murphy was awarded the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor this past week by Governor Rick Perry. The country boy from Hunt County was America’s “most decorated” combat soldier of WWII.

In January of 1945, German infantry and armor in snowy terrain on the outskirts of a small French village couldn’t kill Audie Murphy and alone he daringly held back 250 enemy soldiers and six tanks for more than an hour, protecting his eighteen-man company from the hordes of the advancing enemy. During this remarkable feat, he directed an artillery barrage on his own position, while atop a burning... Read More

I bet that it’s been some time since you cared about what was happening in Iraq. After all, the media has barely covered the new wave of killing, the worst bloodshed since 2008.

What about the 3,852 civilian casualties in Afghanistan in the first half of this year? When was the last time you watched, read or thought about them?

And until last week, like the media, most Americans did not care about the two and a half years of civil war in Syria that killed over 100,000 people. Not until Obama declared, “Let’s bomb them.”Suddenly, the media is discovering how immoral these Syrian... Read More

WASHINGTON – On a day marking the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I-Have-A-Dream" civil rights speech, the United States is poised to unleash another nightmare some 10,000km away in the Middle-East. Washington's war machine is geared up for limited strikes against Syria because Damascus ostensibly crossed a red line by using chemical weapons against its... Read More

Tonight as the darkness falls

I'm thinking back fondly to 1963 And the way our lives and outlook used to be As the hallowed words come back to me From TV shows, the voices ring out In quite moments when the silence can nearly shout I recall how we would walk and, talk about What we had to do so the dream would work out

You said: Nobody but the brave Nobody but the brave Those alone are strong enough to save Something from what everybody gave

Nobody but the brave Nobody but the brave

It seems these nights I see you again my friend The way you looked way back then... Read More
