As most of you know (or don’t know), I am a coach, I have coached soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball on all levels during my 27 years of teaching. I have never done this before, but I decided that I would share with you some “coaching wisdom.” The following article “The Disease of Me” was written by Alan Stein. It was written from a coach’s point of view. It stresses the importance of thinking of others and playing as a team. IN order for a team to be successful, each player has to be unselfish and think about the other people on their team as important as they are. Throughout my... Read More

This past year has been one of the most heart-wrenching and hardest years of my life. It was a week before Christmas, last year, when I lost my best friend in the world, my dad. A week or so later, as soon as I got home from his memorial service, I found out that one of my friends got killed in a snowmobile accident. He left behind a wife and a 3 year old son. From that time until today, four more people that I knew and loved passed away…but the memorial service that I attended today was one of the hardest. The service was for a man that I loved very, very much. I used to tell him that he... Read More

There is something special who has the care and concern for other people…even if the other person is a stranger. In my opinion, when an individual can demonstrate kindness and compassion to someone in need, that is a rare trait that few people seem to possess. I read the following story on which is one of my favorite stories of someone showing a wonderful level of empathy and sympathy to a fellow human being.

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words... Read More

A friend sent us the following and while we cannot state it is a true story, it is none the less a story.

After a President has been in office for 1 year it is customary for the last President to send a note to the new president. So when the note came from Bush to Obama, the President was somewhat troubled because it was written in code and all it said was:

This troubled him as he had always heard from his peers how former president Bush was perceived to have been scholarly challenged. So he took the note to his wife. She was unable to decipher it.

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based... Read More

Six months ago Governor Rick Perry of Texas stated goal was to make abortions “a thing of the past,” in Texas. Thursday he signed into law a bill that makes Texas a state with some of the toughest restrictions in the country.

The law takes effect in October and bans abortions after the 20-week mark. It further requires abortion doctors to have hospital-admitting privileges within 30 miles of tje facility where the abortion is performed, restricts abortions to surgical centers, and places restrictions and when abortion inducing drugs can be taken. Currently only five of Texas' 42 clinics... Read More

Before I start this 'operative' surgical post about a surgeon I'd like to see post-op lethal dose of his own inept medical procedures - hopefully in the throes of unspeakable agony he has inflicted upon others, I'd like to present all you religious/non-religious people a question. This is an intimate question about Jesus asked by a serious young man of a religious panel consisting of high profile religious' leaders of different denominations. Included in the discussion where the the usual theorists. This was broadcast on a nationwide respected tele-channel and the moderator kept moderately... Read More
