Dara was with the social services agent for more than an hour. She sat in a plastic, orange chair in a tiny office. There was enough room for a small book shelf against the wall, a chair and desk and two chairs on the other side of the desk.

The agent's office door was open and Dara looked out the door and across the narrow hall at another woman with another agent. The other woman looked right at Dara. Apparently, she was as uncomfortable and bored as she was.

"How many children do you have," the agent asked Dara.

"I have two children...a girl and a boy," she answered.... Read More

I am tired of wishing my life away and tired of all of the tears. I'm sick of wondering why things are and wanting someone to make things better. Why do I have to succumb to such daggers of anguish that tear at my soul and leave me without any possibility of experiencing a moment of peace of love or anything of substance that might seem to supply food to my soul?

It never ends. I get just so far and then - STOP! I am knocked down and pummeled by society's neglect of its own, leaving those without protection to wither and die inside.

It's sick isn't it? How is such complacency... Read More

I can remember back to the first time I flew on an airplane. I was around 13 years old at the time, and I can still remember the sheer thrill of the takeoff! This was the first time I was actually passing through, and then looking down onto the clouds. Everything about it was just so exciting! And, I just couldn't wait to do it again!

Later, as I entered the working world I started to have more chances to fly. All of it domestic for a while. I flew mostly to Mississippi where the furniture factories were, and to North Carolina where the furniture shows were, and still are. I flew to... Read More

People desire me year round

yet no one can quite get a grip on me

they crave me when I belong to others

and beg for me in their weakest state

they need me in the mornings, afternoons, and nights

they use me thinking I'll always be around

some people save me for when they need me most

I've been everywhere from China to Italy to California

everyone has had a taste of me at some point

people sometimes wake up in middle of the night looking for me

even animals love me and depend on me

I am a part of you, and every other... Read More

If you have zero interest in publishing web sites, my apologies for boring you today. If you publish a blog or personal website and or if you are interested in the economics of web publishing this article is for YOU. If you use a free host, you are probably already well familiar with the limitations you face, and chances are they just don't bother you enough to outweigh the free part. And that is fine. The free blog hosts enable anyone who is willing to learn to become a full-fledged web publisher and you can take that opportunity as far as your time and talents allow, without ever having to... What follows is the second 1/3 of the comment Just Average Joe posted on September 10, 2010. My response appears beneath it.

The Wrecking Crew trampled on civil rights, good manners, common sense, and worst of all, my fun. Want some examples? The Wrecking Crew gave me plenty.

The Wrecking Crew presumptuously immediately eliminated my vibrant virtual Reno Broowaha neighborhood. Gone Reno Broo, Gone. Just wiped us out. A complete vibrant community blithely destroyed.

The “Backassward” Wrecking Crew moronically removed all of Brooster El G’s articles but left his... Read More

Today I am publishing a reaction from BrooWaha writer Hurricane Dean to the comment from Joe which I published last week in Breadcrumbs, Call Numbers and Just Average Joe. In his comment, Joe expressed great respect for Dean, and I have to say that I have great respect for Dean as well. It impressed me that Dean's first reaction on reading Joe's comment was to be greatly honored at Joe's expression of respect. To me this marks Dean as a guy of real class. Here then is Dean's reaction to Just Average Joe:

Before coming to BrooWaha, I spent a few years involved in online poetry... Read More

Musings Of A Poet

I know Rigina, when it takes a week for legite comments to appear it is upsetting, and it is killing the site slowly. Surely there must be a better way to address the spammers and floggers. Also taking away ratings if you do not post in a period of...
