Money Saving Tips For Everyone Who Needs Them

If you want to save up that extra bit of money (as we all do) then you will need to be relatively strict with yourself. It isn’t easy to grab those extra pennies as a lot of us do not have the luxury to spend any disposable income. It’s OK, there are ways. Start simple and with what you can - put a little money away regularly. It's the best way to save for a long-term goal: whether it's a travel trip for your family, a family gathering or even or a new car. Here are some simple ideas to help get you going:

Keep track of your spending

For the next month or so, keep a diary of what you spend every day, from food and drink to gas and clothing. Find an easy way to record what you spend as you go, maybe a database of some kind or in a diary. There are even apps to download just for this which can really benefit you. If you add up how much you spend on coffees, sweet snacks and little treats, you'll be amazed by how much you could save. Even just that candle you purchased in the bargain store or the take away you ordered, you could be seeing hundreds add up by the end of the month.

Pay yourself first because you need the money

Saving up is great but also you need to have enough to live on comfortably and have your bills paid every month. Try working out realistic long-term goals which will help you with what you spend. Sometimes people look at finding side hustles to earn extra, from weekend work to online gambling, as long as you are responsible you can enjoy games such as Colours from Around the World. Open a savings or investment account and start paying in on a regular basis as a monthly payment which will be a standing order and go into a small savings pot. This way you will never forget. You'll be surprised how quickly small contributions can build up to larger sums. It feels good to be in control of your finances.

Find a good deal

There are plenty of ways you can save money when paying for essentials just by looking at coupon sites, collecting coupons, looking at deals, vouchers and gift cards. Ask for gift cards or things you need for birthdays and occasions. Review your mortgage, credit cards, and look at price comparison sites when you are trying to find providers for services. If you own a business, you may want to look at this also and look into your finances to see what you could possibly do differently. Alternatively, talk to an independent financial adviser. Start supermarket shopping online, if you haven't already and this way you can add up what you have spent and also keep a budget better. It is doable.

Create a loose change jar for your pennies

Put a jar in a place around the home where you can empty your change into it at the end of each day and count it up. You’ll find pennies all over the place, in your jacket pocket, bottom of your bag, in your car, on the floor even! Use this cash to buy something special like a Christmas gift, or put it toward your savings for that new car you really want. If you can pay off your debts also as you go this will be beneficial as these can hang over your head and have you worried. Get rid of as much credit card, student loans or any other debts you may have accumulated. This will help you save money because you no longer have big direct debits leaving your account at the end of each month with added interest.

Make saving a challenge

Each month, try to save just a little bit more and whilst this may sound easier said than done there are plenty online places to see what you could do to create a challenge for yourself. Make saving a challenge and this way you will want to save up each week or month. Even if it is just saving up a few pounds a week it will assist your bank balance in the long run. You'll learn to avoid the sales when you buy bargains you don't need. These sacrifices will make your final goal even more worthwhile in the long run and you will be able to buy what you want and when you want it. It’s not a quick fix of course but it can help.
