by Editor (editor), , November 05, 2019

If you are getting into the world of event planning, it is a good idea to establish a niche. In other words, event planners should have specific types of events they specialize in. This will make it easier for you to find work and it will make it easier for clients to find you.

Once you start building a name for yourself, people will begin seeking you out if they are looking for events within your niche.

Once you become a well-known event planner, you can begin branching out if you want to broaden your horizons.

Niches can be broad, or they can be more specific. The more specific your niche is, the more people will seek you out when they are planning a certain type of party.

However, you can’t be so specific that you limit your client base. When deciding on your niche, make sure there is enough demand for it in your specific area.

Keeping that in mind, here are a few types of event planning you can choose from.

  • Surprise parties
  • Kid’s parties
  • Bridal or baby showers
  • Anniversary parties
  • Bachelorette Parties

Planners who love to get creative should consider specializing in these types of events. They will enjoy finding the perfect caterers, decorations and themusical entertainment that is sure to get everyone up on their feet.

Corporate Events

Corporate events can be fun, but mainly, they will serve to improve professional relationships. They are used by companies to solicit new business, promote brand awareness and build loyalty with those they work with.

Some types of corporate events include the following:

  • Meeting and conferences
  • Mall events
  • Awards events
  • Fundraisers
  • Corporate Picnics and Retreats
  • Business Dinners

Corporate events can take some amount of creativity but they are best suited for event planners with a strong marketing sense and business background.

Charity and Fundraising

Charity and fundraising can include the following types of events:

  • Society balls
  • Sporting events
  • Auctions
  • Sponsored runs, cycling or walks

The purpose of a charity event is to raise money to support a cause. Therefore, these types of events mix an element of fun and business and they require a planner with creativity as well as a strong marketing and business sense.

It is also helpful if fundraising event planners have the ability to deeply connect with the causes they are promoting.

Starting a business is hard. If you are looking to make a name for yourself in the world of event planning, finding the right niche is an important first step.

Think of what you would enjoy doing most and the type of planning that is in demand in your area and go from there to find a niche you are happy with. We wish you luck in your future endeavors.
