Alpine Security Background

Alpine Security is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, founded by Christian Espinosa in 2014. The main aim of the company is to provide adequate cybersecurity training, as well as to provide security assessment and solutions to all kinds of clients. The company is also an EC-Council Accredited Training Center (ATC) & CompTIA Authorized Delivery Partner.

Cyber Security Training:

Alpine Security provides day as well as night courses and trainings that focus on cybersecurity certifications, such as Certified CISO, CISSP, CAP, CEH, CASP, CySA+, CHFI, Security+, and Advanced Penetration Testing. The courses can be attended Live Online, and Live In-Person.

These courses are offered by trainers that have actual, hands-on, real-world experiences in the field. They are not just book smart; their real-world knowledge makes the class a much more practical learning experience.

Alpine Security provides its students with an Exam Pass Guarantee; this means that if a student does not pass their exam the first time, they can take the course with Alpine Security again, free of cost. The course can be taken as many times as the student wishes, until they feel they are prepared to take the test again. Alpine Security’s major concern is with their students passing their exam, which is why they employ this method.

The fees are also very reasonable, and all the certification courses already include an exam voucher or fee as well. If a student cannot afford to pay the exam fee, the company reduces the tuition accordingly. The team is accommodating to all students and their needs.

Another important perk for attending training with Alpine Security is the unlimited snacks and drinks they provide during their In-Person courses.

Their courses range from Level 0 to Level 4, focusing on varying specialities within the field. Their most popular courses, based on enrollments, include a Level 1 course on Cybersecurity Foundation, which is fitting for someone with an IT or computer background, looking to start a career in cybersecurity. Other popular courses are the Level 2 ‘Offensive Track’ and ‘Defensive Track’, and the Level 3 ‘Technical Track’ and ‘Management track’.

Services Provided:

In addition to providing state of the art cyber security training, Alpine Security also provides cybersecurity-related services to its clients. They perform several kinds of Penetration Testing, and provide Security Audits and Vulnerability Assessments.

The Alpine Team is highly trained and certified. They have experience in assessing, testing, and working with different kinds of clients; ranging from the military and the government, to medical and healthcare providing companies, and many more complex environments in between such as education, energy, manufacturing, and technology. Their focus is not just on creating a report filled with technical jargon, but on explaining to their clients what exactly is wrong with their cybersecurity, and what they need to do to fix it.

Alpine helps its clients develop a practical approach to recognising and securing their most important assets, such as their data, Information Technology, and Critical Business Operations. Alpine’s comprehensive information security risk evaluation helps its clients to determine their security needs and risks in the context of their business and organisational needs, as well as identify the risks and risk mitigation actions.

In addition to being good at what they do, Alpine Security is also very thoughtful towards its clients. Not only do they provide clients with a Penetration Testing Report, they also provide a findings review, to translate their findings into layman terms, for the client company to be able to better understand their security situation. The clients are not only given clarifications for all technical actions going on inside their systems, but are also given further explanations and answers to any questions and confusions they may have.

Alpine strongly believes in providing a discounted retest option to their clients. Once the clients have had a chance to fix the issues identified in the penetration test report, Alpine provides a discount to once again run the same penetration test, to see if the solutions implemented work or not. Alpine believes that this step is crucial, since companies often think they have fixed an identified problem, only to rerun the test to find the problem persisting. Validating the fixes is as important as identifying them. After a successful rerun of the test, Alpine also provides a letter of attestation to prove that a security assessment was performed, and to highlight the results, for uses outside of the company.

Alpine also gives a penetration testing guarantee. If the penetration test is unable to find at least one vulnerability, the company gives a 100% refund to the client, minus any expenses incurred.

Alpine Security Experiences:

The Alpine Security Team has extensive work experiences in different high-risk and complex environments, where mistakes can mean not only a financial loss, but potential injuries and even loss of life. Some of these high-risk areas include running tests, audits, and security consultations for:

  • medical device manufacturers, where a breach in security could kill people as well as cause a loss of PHI,
  • commercial aircraft, whose systems are very complex but have a very real danger of attackers hacking into them during flight, or even while a plane is parked at gate, posing a very serious security threat,
  • DoD and Government, in critical cyberwarfare environments, where any mistake could cause serious risk of penetration into sensitive data, and even cause attacks on critical infrastructure.
  • Having been tested under such high-risk and complex environments, Alpine Security is well equipped to take on any kinds of challenges and situations.

While their penetration testing has proven to be exceptionally competent, their trainers are also extremely qualified. It is mandatory for the trainers to also be practitioners, thereby making the entire system of the company equally focused on both training and providing services. The trainers’ real world experiences in the field make them better instructors, make the course content more practical, and make the classroom a more efficient learning environment. The trainers must pass the initial Train-the-Trainer course, and also go through recurring courses on training and communication, to retain their quality.
