Not reaching the CAT 2018 exam centre an hour before the exam

Each candidate must reach their CAT 2018 exam centre much ahead of the exam time. CAT 2018 will be conducted in two sessions. The first session will begin at 9:00 am and the second session will begin at 2:00 pm. It is mandatory for the candidate to be reach one hour before the exam as the gate of exam centre will close one hour before the exam commences.

Not carrying necessary documents of identification

If the candidate will be caught not carrying his/her CAT 2018 admit card and a valid photo ID proof issued by the Government of India, he/she will not be allowed to enter the exam hall. In cases where the name of the candidate had been changed due to any event (like marriage, legal name change, divorce), he or she will be required to carry a name change degree document that supports the name change. The CAT 2018 admit card will be available for download from October 24, 2018 onwards till the exam day. Each aspirant must download their CAT 2018 admit card from the official IIMCAT website as no hard copies will be issued to anyone.

Carrying electronic gadgets to the CAT 2018 exam centre

Mobile phones, calculators, Ipad, digital watches and other such electronic items are prohibited at the CAT exam centres. Candidates found carrying any such item inside the exam hall will be barred from writing the CAT 2018 exam.

Not following the instructions for biometric attendance and seating arrangement, etc.

Each candidate is supposed to follow the instructions regarding biometric attendance and seating arrangement. Any candidate found sitting on the seat other than the one allotted to them, will be disqualified.

Not reading the questions properly

Many candidates in a hurry to solve the questions tend to overlook the need to read the question thoroughly thus missing out on crucial details. Don’t do this. Read each and every question with a calm mind. Understand every question before answering it.

Leaving questions incomplete to attempt them later

CAT is the only MBA entrance exam in which you are not allowed to choose the chronology of the sections to answer the questions. The chronology of the sections will be Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude, and you will have to solve the paper in the same order.

CAT 2018 aspirants must remember that they are supposed to complete each section within one hour and the moment one hour is completed, the screen will move to the next section. There is no option to go back to any question left incomplete.

Not using the online calculator

Some candidates prefer to do rough calculation on a piece of paper instead of using the online calculator, thus losing time. Remember, in CAT exam every second matters.

Not keeping the track of time

It is very important that you time yourself well while solving the CAT 2018 question paper as each section is allotted only one hour and you don’t have the option to go back to incomplete or unsolved questions at any point of time.

Not sleeping well a night before the exam

The biggest mistake to avoid is to not sleep a night before the CAT exam day. You need to have a fresh and relaxed mind during the CAT exam to perform well.
