‘Women should empower each other..’

Kolkata saw a glorious event this New Year reflecting this very spirit of women empowerment. The Women’s Economic Forum seminar was held in Kolkata this time on 2nd and 3rd January, 2017 on the theme of “Shakti Unleashed: Awakening the Power Within." This Forum supports the empowerment and inspires young women entrepreneurs to dream big and live their dreams.

Through 50 or more sessions and 150 speakers spread across the 2 day event, 400 women and supportive men came together to be the change they wish to see in the world. This magical event, inaugurated by the CM of Bengal, Smt. Mamata Banerjee and saw the footfalls of many stalwarts like Hemant Kanoria, Rajive Kaul, Alka Bangur, Sanjay Jhunjhunwala; bankers like Anuradha Roy of SBI Mutual; leaders in art and culture like Bickram Ghosh, Shamlu Dudeja; social leaders like Madhu Neotia, Preeti Goenka, Minu Budhia, Threety Irani, Nilanjana Chakraborty; Ruchika and Vivek Gupta (MP) of Sanmarg; Urmi Rahman of Network of Women in Media.

Many NRIs and speakers from abroad, Ambassadors, Diplomats, Judges, Lawyers, Police, Bureaucrats, Artists, Actors, and Young Entrepreneurs and Students, and women from the grassroots were a part of this wonderful event that aims to foster women empowerment and build connections among all the achievers and also the supportive men. The aim has always been to build and be a part of one big family and create bonds at professional as well as personal levels.
