For the past few decades, our planet has seen some serious change. The changes in humanity, technology doing its thing, global warming, the internet, it has really been quite a few busy years has it not? Despite all the positives which have been apparent in the world, like higher literacy rates across the globe, longer life expectancy or progress towards curing aids/HIV, people usually remain fairly negative and just say the world has been going to the dogs. There is good happening in the world, and in one way or another, and we are somehow progressing as a species. If you wish to remain negative, you will always find reasons to do so, but no one really wants to remain down in the dumps forever. Life is hard enough as it is, no need to try and make it more depressing for yourself. Let’s look at a few ways in which things are improving, and you can look forward to.

Sustainable Energy
The consumption of fossil fuel has been a hot topic for a long while, and especially within the last two or so decades. Global warming has been yelled about in the media so many times and for so long that the issue has finally come to the attention of the masses in full force. Estimations of fossil fuels running out within the next 60 or so years have brought about quite the scare, and people are finally working on a sustainable alternative. While you may or may not be alive in 60 years, your children probably will be, and they will get to experience the benefits first hand. Scientists are constantly working on new methods of producing sustainable energy sources and while there are several that exist, they are mostly either not consistent or effective enough. However, new technologies are appearing left and right, so a future with sustainable energy at the helm of our world could be a reality sooner than you think. If you wish to find some good news, just search for them. Since it is topical, read the article titled “Victoria Proposes Hybrid Solar and Wind Farms” to get started, to see that there are indeed positive things happening around the world.

Major medical advances are being made constantly
Recently, researchers in the US have proudly reported a case of what is believed to be the first case of brain damage reversal of its kind. This was a case with a two-year-old girl who drowned in a pool, who was resuscitated 2 hours later due to her heart not beating on its own. Another disease that is close to being killed off is Guinea Worm Parasite, which is honestly as terrifying as it sounds. It involves worms migrating just beneath your skin, causing a plethora of symptoms which include fever, nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions which in turn cause rashes, diarrhoea and edema. This is, of course, all accomplished by a terrible burning sensation which cannot even be described, this has caused people to dub the condition “the fiery serpent”. Yes, it really is as terrible as it sounds, but you can rest easy knowing that there are just over a thousand cases of it left in the world, and it is well on its way to never being seen in a human again.
