President Clinton and Global Warming

By Limoge, published on Feb 6, 2007

...authors defined the word "likely" as between 66 percent to 90 percent probable and the words "very likely" as 90 to 99 percent probable. Now after reading about all this verbal nitpicking, I was somehow reminded of the not too distant past when President Clinton was grilled on whether he had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky and just what he nitpickingly believed sexual relations is. I then started wondering how it would sound if Clinton used the IPCC's verbiage back in the days of his impeachment trial: Ken Starr: Mr. President, did you have sex with Ms. Lewinsky? President... (more)

Shallow and Indecent? Bring it On!

By DarleneRH, published on Feb 1, 2007

...way to the booming loud downtown bars. They arrive VIP-style, immediately planting their swooping mascara lashes at the bar next to a well-dressed and wealthy (or faking it) man who will buy them drinks and make small talk. Maybe even go home with them. Maybe they'll have drunken forgettable sex for 15 minutes on the futon...before promptly forgetting each other's first names and drunk dialing their ex's. Maybe. Ok...maybe "in awe" is not the proper description of how I feel about all this. I'm not disgusted though, either, even though it probably doesn't seem that way. I think all of... (more)

Reality: Where Sex Meets Law

By J. La Mont, published on Jan 31, 2007

America is full of sexual innuendo and come hither looks. Our country will caress and undress but when it comes to the act itself we're revealed for what we are, a big tease. Don't believe me? Take a look on television and see how many commercials go by before you see the small of woman's back or the hint of wild passion -- if you just buy this deodorant, new perfume, or a nicer car. Compare this to the moral indignation when Janet Jackson went topless. A matter of only an inch or two but this territory is sacred. Sure you could watch a showering coed get decapitated during a prime-time... (more)

Paris Hilton Exposed?

By Matt Hilton, published on Jan 27, 2007

A new website has been created, Parisexposed.com. The website will give users the heiress's personal items for a small monthly fee, $39.97. These items are believed to be the items that were seized from a Los Angeles storage facility in November 2005, when Hilton apparently failed to pay a $208 bill for her sizable locker. While Hilton's publicist said the mix-up was because of the third party's tardiness in settling the tab, her items were still sold for $2,775 to an unnamed person. These items went to a broker named David Hans Schmidt, who later sold them to Parisexposed.com owner Bardia... (more)

In Desperate Move, Pfizer Uses Sex To Sell Drugs

By mattjosh, published on Jan 24, 2007

...times to come, Pfizer looks to its ubiquitous erection-enabling drug, Viagra, to help get them over the hump. They cast younger, more attractive men in their commercials, and emphasize more strongly the good times that the pill can provide. Arguably, they are marketing it now as more of a sex-enhancer, rather than a medical treatment for erectile dysfunction. But the non-profit AIDS Healthcare Foundation isn't taking it lying down. They filed suit in Los Angeles earlier this week against Pfizer, accusing them of promoting the medication as a recreational drug, a problem that is all ... (more)

Valentine's Day gift that matters: go Heal a Heart Across the Border

By E Jo, published on Jan 18, 2007

...Valentine’s dinner will cost on the North side of the border! It costs more to shower someone with soulless gifts than to save the lives of human beings. We’ve been brainwashed to believe that if we follow this gift giving formula we will in return receive requited love, amazing sex, and eternal happiness. The chocolates, teddy bears and sparkly rocks are not going to make a bad relationship better nor make a good relationship perfect. In fact, more than half of all dating couples choose Valentine’s Day to break up. So if the spine tingling sight of a balloon... (more)

The Good, The Bad, Women and Wal-Mart

By RLSegarra, published on Jan 9, 2007

...more Americans out of jobs and lowers standards everywhere it goes. The I hate Wal-Mart side. Wal- Mart is a family company with family values that cares about its associates, offers great benefits and a warm and welcome work place. It offers career oportunities for anyone regardless of race, sex, or religion. Wal-Mart cares about its associates and customers. The I love Wal-Mart side. The reality of Wal-Mart is the fact it IS a corporate giant bringing in billions of dollars that cares mainly about bringing in billions of dollars more. It uses propaganda to placate and in a way... (more)

Pillsbury Soldier: A Conversation with Nicholas Gurewitch

By Hassassin, published on Jan 4, 2007

...I think way too many things are funny. Do you have a favorite? NG: Um, I recently re-mastered "Angels Caught". It used to look crappy, but it looks great now. The last frame is so simultaneously funny and scary to me, I'll probably call it my favorite. Can you imagine having to perform sex for God? What conflicting pressure! Probably like trying to run a comic idea by Nick Gurewitch? Nope, too much praise. How about like trying to run a comic idea by Nick in front of an online audience? Nope, too queer. Bad analogy. I think I’m stumped. I should probably email... (more)

In God We Trust

By Stephanie Michele, published on Dec 3, 2006

Last week the Los Angeles archdiocese, the nation’s largest Roman Catholic district of churches announced it had agreed to pay $60 million to settle 45 lawsuits alleging sex abuse by priests. This is the second largest Catholic sex scandal payout in California, behind the Diocese of Orange’s 2004 agreement to pay $100 million to settle 90 abuse claims. It is estimated that allegations of sexual abuse has cost the U.S. Roman Catholic Church at least $1.5 billion since the time abuse scandals became public knowledge. Equal to my concern for the victims, are the answers to these questions; where... (more)

Home for the Holidays?

By C. Reagan, published on Nov 28, 2006

Never, in the history of "Sex and the City", did Carrie go Home for the Holidays. I can't recall a single other show in recent history holding back from forcing the "Holiday Special" down the throats of it's viewers. I, in the grand tradition of "Sex.." will not be hosting a Holiday Special this year. When people ask me when I'm going home for Christmas, I just smirk and say that I can't afford it. I say a little prayer every time these lies slip past my lips. Horrid, Horrid lies. Now, don't get me wrong. I am terribly homesick. I do miss the grand St. Louis Holiday traditions of snow and ice... (more)
