Lightness Of Being

By SUNofMAN, published on Jan 23, 2009

"What is good is light; whatever is divine moves on tender feet?: first principle of my aesthetics.

My appeal toward Isis Rodriguez work ("Glyphtoons" exhibited at Patricia Correia Gallery in Santa Monica, 9/06) could be for its "Lightness of Being" quality. What I mean is that traditionally painting has been a long process of underlays and overlays. The process is slow and has traditionally given us some remarkable results in terms of achieving depth.

But is this the only way?

In our searching and finding as creative beings to give... (more)

The Bible Is Not A Smorgasbord

By D. E. Carson, published on Nov 6, 2008 nothing left of them.  This is not meant to scare you.  I’m simply reporting.  You are free to do with it as you choose.

But getting back to the issue of Proposition 8, I was watching the late LA news last night and saw the Prop 8 protesters meandering around WeHo between Santa Monica/San Vicente Boulevards and the Hollywood and Highland district.  I saw signs accusing supporters of Proposition 8 of hatred and discrimination.  As I wrote in my previous article, Proposition 8 was about the rights of the people versus ideological judges legislating from the bench.  But... (more)

After Getting Laid Last Friday, I Realize, No Big Deal...

By Geoffrey A. Citron, published on Sep 20, 2008

...don't know what to do with myself. I want the insanity over with. Added to this let's not forget as a human being I'm extremely lazy, (sometimes) alcoholic, and I absolutely never exercise. To demand twenty minutes of pumping and sweating from me is like asking most to Jog from Hollywood to Santa Monica... just not happening.

Now at the same time there is a flipside to the coin. I can see enjoying endless hours of pelvis bumping if the partner is someone truly special. But this of course means dropping ‘The L Bomb': Love. And I don't mean telling your partner you love them just to... (more)

Gourmet Taste of Santa Monica

Santa Monica-I’m a regular visitor to the City of Santa Monica throughout the year. I travel from the Southbay in order to catch a foreign/Art house movie at Laemmele Theaters and have dinner afterwards. In the spring, I attend the very popular Santa Monica Festival in Clover Park. During the summer months, you can find me on the Santa Monica Pier for the annual Twilight Dance Series. My new end of summer routine is to attend the annual Taste of Santa Monica, on the West Parking Lot of the Santa Monica Pier.

Oh yeah, I highly recommend Groundwork for just unwinding and a great cup of Joe.

There are a few other locations in the Los Angeles, Hollywood and Santa Monica area. Check it out.
