On Kenneth's Anger: The AsianWeek Blunder

By The Dez, published on Mar 1, 2007

...to coerce. This is proven by the fact that so many of them, including Reverend Al Sharpton, tend to be Christians. Yet, at the same time, they spend much of their time whining about how much they hate "the whites that oppressed them." Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Christianity the religion that the whites forced upon them? # Blacks don't get it. I know it's a blunt and crass comment, but it's true. When I was in high school, I recall a class debate in which one half of the class was chosen to defend black slavery and the other half was chosen to defend liberation.... (more)

The Enigma Of The Number 23

By Crowbar, published on Feb 24, 2007

...discovery of the Book of Mormon. In interviews, Robert Anton Wilson has acknowledged the self fulfilling nature of the 23 enigma and implied that the real value of 23 lies in the demonstration of the mind's power to perceive "truth" in nearly anything. Discordianism is a modern, chaos-based religion that believes that chaos and disharmony are equally valid aspects of reality. It has been described as both an elaborate joke disguised as a religion, and as a religion disguised as an elaborate joke. It has also been described as "Zen for Round-eyes". While the enigma of 23 can be found... (more)

...him to reach into his heart and recapture the values that have been apart of him since childhood in order to give birth to Africa Is Real. Yet, it was not only his Jewish values that inspired him in the creation of the organization as he does not want to affiliate Africa Is Real with any religion, from the 1000 plus registered members across North America to the affiliated doctors in Africa has the fingerprints of the Jewish community are all over. Graceful Offenses: Knowing One's Place in the Workplace

By mattjosh, published on Feb 7, 2007

...some point. She then crossed herself and announced that we could all "go ahead" now. Saying grace at a business lunch? Keeping me from eating to do so and then allowing me to once finished? I was stunned. It doesn't upset me that she has these beliefs, but isn't this mixing of work with religion borderline unconstitutional? God will probably hear your thanks if you murmur them silently rather than actively imposing your ritual on your coworkers. This is the kind of thing you do among sympathetic friends and family, not people you work with. I came here for curry, not crosses! Now, ... (more)

Reality: Where Sex Meets Law

By J. La Mont, published on Jan 31, 2007

...wearing a penis costume while the legislature is in session. How can people respect the law when the law doesn't respect the people? I'm not advocating for or against anything but shouldn't there be a national discourse? How many important issues are deemed too important to talk about: sex, religion, drugs, morality... with Global Warming it may not even be safe to talk about the weather anymore.

It's natural to want to stick to the clear cut talking points. I'm for curing cancer and a balance budget but those areas of gray aren't going away. Neither are the laws or the sex.

By V, published on Jan 9, 2007

...the turban come off? That's a multilevel question. I'm, I'mm not a person who follows rules. I do things because they give meaning to me, because it gives me good feeling. I use the turban because it gives me a good feeling. You know, I can believe in anything and nothing. I can practice any religion and no religion. I can practice all kinds of yoga and martial arts or none. I can run marathons or I can skate a marathon. I can play my guitar or I can play bass or drums. It's part of my lifestyle. The Good, The Bad, Women and Wal-Mart

By RLSegarra, published on Jan 9, 2007

...out of jobs and lowers standards everywhere it goes. The I hate Wal-Mart side. Wal- Mart is a family company with family values that cares about its associates, offers great benefits and a warm and welcome work place. It offers career oportunities for anyone regardless of race, sex, or religion. Wal-Mart cares about its associates and customers. The I love Wal-Mart side. The reality of Wal-Mart is the fact it IS a corporate giant bringing in billions of dollars that cares mainly about bringing in billions of dollars more. It uses propaganda to placate and in a way brainwash... (more)

Good Morning Starshine

By Dan Maier, published on Dec 14, 2006

Sometimes I get a crazy thought in my head and the only way to exorcise it is to write it out. To get down to brass tacks, "I don't want to get off on a rant but.." I'm a person without a religion. There are many people in this world with a religion. Religious beliefs can lead to conflicts. Some of these conflicts have lasted for millennia, and most result in bloodshed and pointless loss of life. I'm willing to wager that there is one concept that people the world over, whether they realize it as an ethereal concept or not, agree on; "The Sun." Pretty much every human culture throughout... (more)
