Seems like yesterday (Prose Mother to Daughter)

By JennyT, published on Oct 3, 2013

with grace she enters from the dressing room

captivating those that turn, their lipstick stained glasses

held in hand and some gentlemen who sit on couches

sideways glance to hold her beauty in their eyes

too ethereal for this world, angelically she softly glides

and takes her place in front of the mirror that can’t

reflect the beauty she holds inside

satin shoes, dress of lace that waterfalls

around her feet

her dream, on the verge of being fulfilled

my dream ~ her happiness and I wonder does she notice

the tears... (more)

Burnt Offerings

By JennyT, published on Oct 2, 2013

I walk a candle in summer rain umbrella’d by my free hand

hot wax drips against my palm yet I’m indifferent to pain northerly winds dance around my ankles, languid as the Koi that circle in your pond trespassing your land, forbidden territory relinquishing fears; heart beats strong scrunched piece of paper your last words to me the page of ink runs ~ similarity

indecipherable ‘nothings’ a goodbye of yours escorts my steps a minute or two your memory will be doused corridors of feelings I wasn’t good enough; you weren’t a flickering candle these scrawled words that you... (more)

Imagine – John Lennon - In cartoon

By Shaun Gibson, published on Sep 20, 2013

I “JUST HAD” To share this. Many dislike the “Imagine there is no heaven line” But I think many miss the point. This simple cartoon, I hope can make people understand the song a bit better. I think this is just BRILLIANT! The message is “HOPE, PEACE AND LOVE” Nothing more, nothing less. People who follow Religion always tell me “it’s a metaphor” when I ask about some things said in the bible or ask questions about God or the lack of God in action through prayer. I mean to upset nor hurt anyone’s feelings here, only put something into context. We can’t have our cake and eat it in this World.... (more)

The Mother With One Eye

By Coach Phatty, published on Sep 18, 2013

I came across this story that simply broke my heart and reminded me of an important lesson: never judge a person until you know exactly of what made them the way they are…

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your mom only has one eye!”

Lie Anyway

By D. Sager, published on Sep 12, 2013

Speak with your face turned away,

words that I long for you to say.

I believe them even if they may

keep my logic in constant sway

Holding my aching mind at bay

go ahead my love, lie anyway.

The Gate was open

By JennyT, published on Sep 10, 2013

fingertips trace the suede

that swaddles the comfy place we’d sit and watch old movies leaving imprints of my identity across where you’d lay your arm

the kitchen table where we shared our meals and laughter from the day or serious conversations on world events with stifled yawns from me ~ sits barren

looking sideways to the crooked frame hanging on the wall; giggles remembered and stamped feet, how you never hung it straight ~ the memories of ‘us’ ~ just simple things

the gate not mended; the grout worn and fallen; rubbish stacked behind the shed it would be cleared... (more)

... other out. We say please and thank you and I love you. Too often it's the little words that have so much meaning, which sadly we simply can forget in our busy schedules. Taken for granted, which can sometimes lead to animosity, a little kind word here and there can only but help to improve relationships. Agreed? What do you say?

There doesn't have to be a 'reason', to show someone who you like/love. Simple things like taking pride in their appearance especially when you go out (ie doing your hair, having a shave - goes for both sexes) ;-) helping out with chores without having to be ... (more)

Online Dating

By JennyT, published on Sep 1, 2013

...- that's what my mum would tell me) so you don't need any assistance.

There are so many reasons to convince yourself that on line dating or match making services don't or can't work.

Can I tell you ... you are wrong (forgive me) but you are.

I have had my fair share of relationships (well I am old-ish). I was married (for 19 years). I was even engaged to a man who was 16 years my junior) please don't hold that against me...I'm not a cougar :-)

For OTHER reasons other than the age difference it was not to be.

After that ended I decided to try the on-line... (more)

Mother to Child - Prose

By JennyT, published on Aug 28, 2013

as the candle flickers its last breath to

the night, with shades drawn; the day at its end

watching you sleep with lashes brown and long

that settle on your skin, your face drawing a

soft smile; a brush could not do as well

blankets tucked in at your sides to

stop the chill of night; keeping you safe

and warm from winter rain and winds outside

beyond the darkened panes of glass, I watch you

with feelings of love; to protect; till the next

day is done

deep into the night, I lay in stillness knowing

you are there,... (more)
