Lead Us Not Into Confusion

By Thom Hunter, published on May 28, 2012

...can we not get it together on our answers?

Be honest. God loves us all, and He wants us all to be like His son, Jesus. That means we lay down our lives and sacrifice our desires and take on His desires for us. And, in all honesty, that does not include homosexuality, adultery, pornography or any sexual perversion, no matter how it pleases us or anyone else.

Be an example. Yes, of course, I and many others, have failed at this. But . . . let the redeemed say so. If you cannot be an example of life-long righteousness, shine in redemption and model repentance.

Dear Christian: You're Scaring Them To Death

By Thom Hunter, published on Mar 23, 2012

...playground . . . not a headlong toss into finding themselves in the land of the lost.

We need to quit scaring; we need to start caring.

Whether we embrace it as an official ministry or not, members of our churches are ministering to Christians who struggle with homosexuality, pornography addiction and other forms of sexual brokenness. Like the struggle itself, their ministry to those who suffer may be hidden, but it goes on, born out of undeniable love. They are parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, cousins, and friends of your church members – men and women -- who... (more)

And Still We Try to Reason Why

By Thom Hunter, published on Jan 29, 2012

It’s okay to question why.

It’s okay to even cry.

Don’t ever hesitate to try.

God will answer; He won’t lie.

There’s no answer He won’t know.

There’s no place He will not go.

There’s no path He will not show.

God will answer; He loves you so.

No question lies within your mind.

That God cannot in love unwind.

That’s how we’ve all been so designed.

To seek from Him what we can’t find.

In His answers lies our peace.

In His words, we find release.

Our search can end, our troubles cease.

It all... (more)

What Should We Do About Doubt?

By Thom Hunter, published on Jan 11, 2012

Lord, I crawled across the barrenness to you with my empty cup uncertain in asking for any small drop of refreshment. If only I had known you better, I'd have come running with a bucket. -- Nancy Spielberg

I doubt if there is anyone who does not on occasion doubt. At least himself. I know the illustration: we don’t think about whether a chair is going to hold us up; we just sit. But I also know that sometimes we just miss the chair altogether and we’re on the floor in pain and it is just there: a chair. A mocking chair.

Rather than admit to doubt, some of us parade in false... (more)

Christians and Sex: This is No Time for Silence

By Thom Hunter, published on Nov 29, 2011

...or otherwise. The truth is that people who are confused about their sexuality and think themselves gay, or people who find themselves addicted, or people who find themselves giving into temptations, having sex with the same sex, lusting after someone other than their spouse, staring at pornography on their computers, fantasizing . . . are people who, like you, were made in the image of him, and like you -- and all other sheep -- have gone astray. The truth is, they are as loved by God as you are . . . and the truth is when one of them jumps off a bridge, or leaves a spouse, or hides ... (more)

Gay Culture: The Mouse that Keeps on Roaring

By Thom Hunter, published on Nov 5, 2011

...with someone of the same sex or so fearful of one with the opposite -- move closer to disaster while we marvel at the decibel level of the mighty mouse that keeps on roaring. And our daughters pose provocatively, seduced by emptiness and longing, while our sons invest their souls in pornography like a temporary sedative for an unsatisfied and distorted desire. And our marriages fail as we fall into others' beds. As I wrote in Surviving Sexual Brokenness: What Grace Can Do: "Honestly . . . would it hurt that bad for us to just be honest with each other? Sexual brokenness --... (more)

Who Told You You Were Naked?

By Thom Hunter, published on Oct 31, 2011

One of the most discouraging aspects of battling a deeply-internalized sexual issue is that, even after you face it, fight it, and deprive it, something in that deep-internal goes right back to work to revive it. You choke it, pound it, bury it, surrender it and then, before you know it, you're back under it. You toss it out the window on your journey to freedom and about the time you peek in the rear-view mirror, it's splatting on the windshield.

I've heard of . . . and would like to shake the hand of -- some people who faced-down the addictive nature of sexual brokenness and, in that... (more)

A Certain Destiny

By Selina Jane, published on Nov 25, 2009

She preferred to hang around with queens and fags. Breeders just weren’t as interesting and always passed judgment on her extra-curricular activities and porn shop career! So what, if she sold ass plugs and dildos for a living… The people she met at work were far more interesting than any of the corporate robots who worked down the street in the business sector.

Sometimes it got slow during the day. She’d start putting batteries in things, cranking the funk, and dancing around the store like a freak. Occasionally the bells would jingle and someone would come into the store and catch... (more)
