Patriotically Speaking

There is no special reason why you should heed my plea, but I am an American citizen, a veteran, a Democrat and a supporter. The essence of my appeal is much broader than you or I. This concerns our country, our children, and everyone or everything we hold dear. The debacle of the debt ceiling debate and deal call into question the effectiveness of governance in the United States. As was demonstrated then, you face implacable foes that place nothing higher than your defeat. They have shown the citizenry and the world that their two-track strategy is divide and rule and rule or ruin.

Stockholm Syndrome

By Caballero_69, published on Jul 22, 2011 He did not create this dreadful impasse in any way and the loud and incessant lies alleging he did are tales told by idiots full of sound and fury. When progressives sat out the 2010 mid-terms and zealots carried the day, we, the People, set the stage for this cluster phuck. As President Obama observed, at a town hall meeting on 22 July 2011, "You voted for a divided government in 2010, but you did not vote for a dysfunctional government." Therefore, as much as it might soothe our egos and salve our consciences to denounce and dismiss all politicians as self-serving charlatans, that ... (more)

...the default on these obligations. "Ms. Bachmann has consistently downplayed the potential for catastrophe if a deal to increase the debt limit is not reached, and said she intends to vote against authorizing an increase." Furthermore, these three Republican Congressmembers now blame President Obama for "holding the full faith and credit of the United States hostage so that he can continue his spending spree." [] These statements and legislative proposals are... (more)

...any serious intent of addressing the budget deficit. Bipartisan debt ceiling talks led by VP Biden collapsed Thursday when GOP negotiators Eric Cantor and Jon Kyl walked out because Democrats were pushing for a balanced approach that includes both budget cuts and revenue increases. President Obama has scheduled a meeting for Monday with Senate leaders Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell. Meanwhile House Speaker John Boehner warned again that House Republicans will not vote for a debt limit increase that includes higher taxes. August 2nd is the drop dead date by which a deal must be struck. It ... (more)

The Rich Get Richer and The Poor Get @!%!*!

By jakeskyles, published on Apr 18, 2011

I’m sure some of the phrases you will hear tonight in President Obama’s speech will be first “We all must sacrifice,” and “It’s not going to be easy.” Who is he reffering to? The poor, thats who: not the rich. Cuts in Medicare and Medicade. Programs that working Americans have contributed to over the many years.

You won’t hear-Lets close the tax loopholes for rich muli-national corporations and lets stop the billions in subsidies to big oil companies. It reminds me of the lyrics in the Aerosmith tune. “Same old song and dance”.

There is plenty of money to be had. Everyone knows... (more)

The Eyesore Of The World

By Paul Wylie, published on Mar 21, 2011

...asylum from brutal dictatorships in the Caribbean, such as the Haitian and Cuban escapees, the very word Gitmo has come to be associated with terror and torture, and the place where another brutal dictator allowed for the flouting of both U.S. and International law. With the advent of the Obama Administration, the American People were assured this era was now over.

On the U.S. mainland, including Alaska and Hawaii, even now, prisoners have certain rights. Such as the right to a speedy trial by a jury of one's peers, the right to an attorney, the right to have contact with the... (more)

A Dose of Personal Responsibility

By D. E. Carson, published on Jan 12, 2011

In the beginning, Americans were hard working individuals who knew deep down in their very souls that their success was limited only by their willingness to accept responsibility for their actions. If a person started a business it was solely through his own hard work and dedication that the business would succeed. The proprietor could not assign blame on anyone if the business went down the drain. He could only look at himself and inquire of himself as to how much effort he wished to put into that business. That work ethic not only permeated shopkeepers but anyone who worked for a living:... (more)

Death Panels: Myth or Reality?

By D. E. Carson, published on Dec 27, 2010

As Democrats tried to ram 0bamacare down the throats of Americans, one particular piece of verbiage caught the eyes of several people who opposed it. The idea that doctors who receive Medicare payments for patient services would have been forced to convince critically ill patients to forego aggressive treatments simply because they were too old. In the final bill passed into law earlier this year, this concept was quietly slid under the rug.

Now, according to the New York Times – the most liberal, left-leaning newspaper in the nation – it would seem that 0bama is going to bring back... (more)

Scientists: Smart Meters Are Safe

By Josh Marks, published on Dec 23, 2010

...are really concerned about being exposed to radiation by a wireless Smart Meter, then the alternative of sending signals over a power line by a carrier current will have the unintended consequences of creating RF concerns near the power line and on the wires that go into your house.

The Obama Administration allocated $3.4 billion in the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act to jumpstart the installation of Smart Meters in every home as the first step in the National Smart Grid that will enhance energy efficiency and make widespread adoption of renewable energy easier.

Government Stimulus A Big Lie

By jakeskyles, published on Nov 20, 2010

The government cannot generate economic stimulus. Being a leech that lives off the general economy it is always a drag on the economy, not a force to create rapid growth (technology investment creates long term growth potential). Sometimes a needed one to ensure things do not run out of control or people are enslaved by the greed of others. But it is a drag on the economy, taking money from everyone who works to fund its missions – and its mistakes.

When the economy dips or stumbles the proven method used by George W Bush, Ronald Reagan and John F Kennedy was to lower taxes and reduce... (more)
