Image Is Not Everything

By Randy Mitchell, published on Apr 28, 2012

While sitting in my favorite deli recently, I couldn’t help but overhear this statement coming from the next table, “My husband has never made enough money for me to be happy, I wish he’d change jobs or do something else.” The words were spoken in a disappointing, almost angry tone.

This touches on the vast majority of recent surveys and psychological reports pointing to the fact that people are much happier, at least temporarily, when their mates or companions make more money. While listening, I also thought about the image she might see her husband in. Maybe she no longer perceived... (more)

Generosity Is Sexy

By Randy Mitchell, published on Apr 6, 2012

...and it’s a perfect testament of how gifts like these can really be validated when others are given a slice of the unanticipated pie.

Article: Firefighters

Watching the recent images of the largest lottery in history brought to light my own thoughts of how I’d handle the money if lady luck had paid me a visit. I’ve touched on this before in a prior article, even focusing on this very subject in my upcoming second novel which centers around a poor farmer in a tiny town who suddenly strikes it rich (Hint: its title is, “The Luck inside Me,” which I’ll hopefully ... (more)

It Really Doesn't Matter Who Wins in Republican-Land

By Notumbus Bumbus, published on Mar 11, 2012

...that there are many sorts of Republicans, the truth is, there are just two kinds. You have your basic republicans, who operate from their convictions, regardless of what portion of the Right spectrum they cleave to. And then you have your Insiders, who cleave to one thing, and one thing only - Money. This second type will use all the appropriate verbiage to con, er, convince the basic republicans that it is in their best interest to "fall in line" by pandering to various portions of the Right spectrum. When it appears more beneficial to keep the Money flowing by pandering to the farthest... (more)

... Trying to recover, going nowhere On the sticky carpet falling Once again I put my fate in the hands of the Bringer of Pain Fears from everywhere I hear Muffled screams from the room next door The dirty mirror reflecting Once again I put my fate in the hands of the Bringer of Pain Its all gone, money is low One more call, one more go The old a/c is struggling Once again I put my fate in the hands of the Bringer of Pain Collapse, need to get out Twist and turn from the pain The phone light is blinking Once again I put my fate in the hands of the Bringer of Pain Sounds exploding out of... (more)

Gamechanger or Game Ender?

By Jeff Weisinger, published on Feb 22, 2012

...in daylight. The screen easily glares, making the screen hard to see, and driving up the brightness works just a bit, however you do so at the cost of battery life, which gets you about five hours of playing time on a single charge.

When it comes to the Playstation Vita, you do get your money's worth even for the launch price. I recommend the launch bundle because you get the 8GB card and access to 3G, whether you end up using it or not. It's perfect for those gamers who are constantly on the go.

Despite the current price, there is much potential to the PSVita, primarily... (more)

11 Things I Wish My Daughter To Know

By D. Sager, published on Dec 15, 2011

1) Hold your head high, you are beautiful, every day, all the time. When a man asks you to change your appearance to be acceptable to him, walk away and be yourself. Develop your character inside. Beauty is deeper than an outward appearance.

2) Respect yourself. In all you do and say, be a woman of class and honor. You will not get respect until you respect yourself.

3) Follow your dreams, never let a relationship, whether it be friendship, or love, rob you of what you dream.

4) Be independent, make sure of your own finances, health, and career. Always have... (more)

Angel, Part 5

By D. Sager, published on Dec 14, 2011

... into months. We both learned the game, with a quickness necessitated out of survival rather than, as she supposed, fun and glamor. My angel's eyes lost their shine, being replaced with a distant look now shared with the rest of the dancers. She was fresh on the scene, and new girls make a lot of money the first few months of their initiation, their clients hoping to sway them with “generosity”. Other more unscrupulous men, professionals, hoping to secure her in their own businesses, would throw her lure after lure and line after line. Not knowing how to handle the growing concern and... (more)

The Queen, End Game

By D. Sager, published on Nov 29, 2011

The Queen, End Game has been rescinded in lieu of another ending forthcoming. I will leave the ending below for those who "need closure", but will continue to let the story evolve for those who can stand the ride. Peace. * * * * * We shuffled together down the alley, working our way toward a halo of light, a haven of safety, at least in my mind. Leading me this way may have saved our lives, my Queen was wise. I glanced down at her, my life, my love. She stopped me, shock in her eyes, I followed her gaze down her body, the chilled wind blowing her coat to the side enough for me to... (more)

The Queen, Part 4

By D. Sager, published on Nov 27, 2011

I straightened from our huddled position beside the dented cans of rancid garbage, a small rat sat on its haunches, a spectator to the gladiators now positioning themselves in the arena. I turned to my queen, searching her eyes for some sign that it was alright, that this didn't need to happen. Her face pale now in the cold seamy night, held only fear, and hope, a slight spark in her eye. Her eyes so entrancing, how I longed to...a brutal smack to the right side of my face shook me back to reality. Twice tonight, I lost myself in her, twice now I was yanked back to unrelenting reality. My queen... (more)

Erotic Economies

By Maylin Gonzalez, published on Sep 30, 2011

... Evidently, whatever status you remain with, it is only in your state of mind; never really becoming anything or anyone.

When it comes to transactional sex or even in the more extreme, prostitution; the ability to become someone else is rather intricate. Not only will you be giving sex for money but overall you are becoming someone who is known for such. The process of becoming will not only be a sense of belonging, it will also be sense of denial.

Denial of who you are. Who you will become. What you will be known as. A false sense of belonging. A state of mind which only exists ... (more)
