Because of Love: The “Old One”

By Coach Phatty, published on Sep 26, 2013

...holes in the toes, scuffed at the barn floor and replied, ” Yes, I could use a pair of new boots.”

His arm slid defensively about the Old One’s neck as he drew her near. With gentle caressing he rubbed her softly behind her ears. He replied quietly, “We keep her because of love. Nothing else, just love.”

Baffled and impatient, the young folks wished the old man and his wife a Merry Christmas and headed back toward the city as darkness stole through the valley.

The old couple shook their heads in sorrow that it had not been a happy visit. A tear fell... (more)

Imagine – John Lennon - In cartoon

By Shaun Gibson, published on Sep 20, 2013

I “JUST HAD” To share this. Many dislike the “Imagine there is no heaven line” But I think many miss the point. This simple cartoon, I hope can make people understand the song a bit better. I think this is just BRILLIANT! The message is “HOPE, PEACE AND LOVE” Nothing more, nothing less. People who follow Religion always tell me “it’s a metaphor” when I ask about some things said in the bible or ask questions about God or the lack of God in action through prayer. I mean to upset nor hurt anyone’s feelings here, only put something into context. We can’t have our cake and eat it in this World.... (more)

Sacred Thoughts

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Sep 20, 2013

In the inception of

The breaking dawn

Radiant, gleaming , beckoning

Glistening upon the dew drops

Flowers opening to blossom

As a reflection of a Mother's gift

The wind delighting in the fragrance

The aura and aroma scenting this beauty

I come to you with prayer on lips

To never leave you

As I am your own

Surrendered in the divinity

Of understanding, compassion

Tranquil gifts of reverent homage

Belonging as the birds are to flight

The water to the sea

The trees to the forest

I... (more)

draped the angel sleeps the cold of stone not felt beneath surround her not with pity she no longer feels her pain blind to acts of cruelty deaf to words of hate

as on earth an angel once again

do not weep your tears though your heart may break as you stand before her rest a marigold where she lays remember not her sorrow her soul now free to touch

the face of the stars

brush the dirt away from her so she maybe cleansed from those that caused her death sit and talk with her a while and you will hear her plea

I sleep, I ask ~ no tears be shed... (more)

Lie Anyway

By D. Sager, published on Sep 12, 2013

Speak with your face turned away,

words that I long for you to say.

I believe them even if they may

keep my logic in constant sway

Holding my aching mind at bay

go ahead my love, lie anyway.

Why must we hate

By Shaun Gibson, published on Sep 11, 2013

...middle of nowhere country is taught, we are born pure and innocent, then we become the person we are taught to be or told to be. I was taught hate on a large scale and I went with it in a big way, then one day I looked at my 3 year old son, started to cry and walked away from it, I found love, compassion and more, then the pain came, I always wonder to this day, why did the pain come when I woke up to intolerance and hatred

Karma is the best I can come up with to this day, I did some awful things as a kid and a young man, but doing football with kids for 15 years was my way of ... (more)

The Gate was open

By JennyT, published on Sep 10, 2013

...feet, how you never hung it straight ~ the memories of ‘us’ ~ just simple things

the gate not mended; the grout worn and fallen; rubbish stacked behind the shed it would be cleared ‘one day’ ~ things undone things left; importance now ~ very little within our walls of home, love held between four fences ~ that had value

we broke down, distracted by so many things sweet madness; sweet love of ours disappeared between the palings as you drifted out of reach and that’s what mattered

now with suitcases at my feet ~ my sweaty hand grips the handle of the... (more)

Poetry Is Life...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Sep 3, 2013 behold

Emotions laid bare

My soul dancing

With no barriers

To constrain my heart

Words which are

Otherwise empty

Are birthed into benediction

Sacred celebrations manifested

Clothed in poetry's wonder

Love my inspiration

As all artists alike

A celebration of life

Painting the mundane

In shades of luminescence

Rejoicing in the serenity

I give you my heart

My soul transparent

Welcoming you into

The inspiration of a poet

My English Rose

By JennyT, published on Aug 27, 2013

...hand to cross the roads.

This is the lady that looked after my children, so I could work.

This is the lady that took care of me when I was sick, or had a bad back & couldn't tend to my daughter.

This is the lady who has supported me and my family with her unconditional love & affection.

This is the lady whom I have laughed with and shared tears with.

This is the lady that I have argued with & fought with.

This is lady who can say a sharp word or two to me if she feels the need.

This is the lady who has shared so much love for... (more)
