The Hermit Chronicles: Cup of Conversation

By D. Sager, published on May 27, 2013

“Not all those who wander are lost.” - J.R.R.Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“Some things were better lost than found.” - Stephen King, The Dead Zone

Lost is good, it's when I find places that appear on the horizon of experience, places that are exciting, painful, and perhaps enlightening. Being lost and alone sounds terrible, but these are exciting lands. I pass by many and varied road signs that point the way out. Addiction, seems many took that one, I see their detritus strewn about and the bones of those who scarcely made the turn on that road before they... (more)

Still remember like Yest'day

By Rahul, published on Apr 18, 2013

...a tug inside and

-my whole world changed.

Still remember like yest'day,

How I loved the first shine,

Reaching early to see you

-and the last ride home with you.

Still remember like yest'day,

How your every smile was, was

-all that I lived for each day.

And you became my life.

Still remember like yest'day,

How things changed once you were mine -

and how priorities changed.

Loved you in my own way -

but just can't remember -

when I lost sight of you,

in winning the world for you.

A Million TIMES

By Rahul, published on Jan 17, 2013

I'd talked to you a million times, and I knew you inside out. Yet when I came near you, Words betrayed me,My heart missed a beat and time slowed down; Never in those million times had this happened, thought my search was over.

Late I was as always, but my heart was content; for I found my voice amidst those mumbled words. ‘Special you are’ the one I talked to a million time. And still she asks,... (more)

Final LIGHT

By Rahul, published on Dec 6, 2012

I have friends, a lot in fact, they were always nice to me, loved me and stood near me when ever needed, but I felt all alone and detached. A little did I know that I created a barrier between me and others, the one through which not even my parents could pass, the one which made me fall in love with loneliness. It felt like dark and cold inside, as if I am not needed in this world, as if I am dead. Four walls surrounded me, I can’t see beyond them, only darkness all around, they are closing in fast now; soon I won’t be able to move and there won’t be much air left for me to breath. All trapped... (more)

Sorry to disturb you...

By Joey Flowers, published on Dec 31, 2011

There's something I would like to share that I usually don't with people. So please, hear me out. I am not a religious guy, or one to get on his knees and pray. In fact, I would almost call myself agnostic in my beliefs, although I do not even follow that to the letter. I think MANY people are in the same mindset as me when it comes to that. But I do respect those who are religious and have that belief system.Well, when I arrived here, on the island of Puerto Rico, I was a shell of a man. Soulless and broken down. I'll spare all of the details, but most of you who regularly read my writings... (more)

More Lost than J.J. Abrams

By Joey Flowers, published on Dec 17, 2011

Just another day in paradise. Or is it paradise lost? Thought my life was okay, for the most part. Pretty average really. Could there have improvement? Of course. Who's life can't use improvement in certain areas? No one's life is really perfect. And certainly not mine.Like I stated before, I left home at a young age. Fifteen to be exact. Dropped out of high school and moved away. And why is that? Because I met HER. We will use the name HER to protect the not so innocent. I will admit, I'm still at a loss and am somewhat confused, but it could be just me being in denial. It would seem in all... (more)

LOST Recap: Episode 5

By Eric Karlan, published on Mar 26, 2010

...using a bottle of elixir and a cork as props, it seems as if Jacob fills the role of Hell’s Keeper more than anything else. Jacob is the cork, solid and singular in stopping preventing the liquid, the Man in Black, from spilling out and tainting the Earth.

From the very first episode, Lost has not really been about the human characters. They are mainly a means to an end. This show has always been about the Island: its purpose, its nature, and its destiny. If that is the case, the Island functions as a prison for the Man in Black, and Jacob’s sole purpose is to ensure that he is... (more)

LOST Recap: Episode 5

By Eric Karlan, published on Mar 4, 2010

Confounded frustration after "The Lighthouse," I neglected to write a recap for episode 4 - but LOST redeemed itself this past Tuesday with "Sundown," clearly (at least in my mind) and finally establishing the foundation for the final battle to come.

While we do not know the precise motivations or implications of this 'final battle,' it inevitably will be centered around The Island - the inanimate character in the show that has intrigued us since the very first episode in the series, and the thing that Smokie ironically (in my mind) claimed 'does not need protecting.' If this show is... (more)

LOST - Recap of Episode 2

By Eric Karlan, published on Feb 10, 2010

While "What Kate Does" does not exactly provide us with any Island-sinking answers (ba doom, ch), it does illuminate some of the bigger questions Losties may have about, well, what the heck is going on. Rather than recapping the episode, let me offer up some theories based on what I took out of tonight's episode.

I do NOT read spoilers, so this is not giving anything away for yet-to-be-aired episodes.

Smokie was Christian before he was Locke: I postulated this toward the conclusion of Season 5, but tonight's episode solidified this theory in my mind. Here's my train of thought...

Video Killed The Radio Star

By Jen, published on Mar 6, 2008

...TV." And MTV, that Music Television thing I was so disappointed by. It doesn't even show videos anymore. What once meant quality time with Mom has become a never ending merry-go-round of sharks, Nazis, trashy reality shows, and CSI: pick your favorite city. "Honestly if it weren't for "Lost" and Bill Maher my DVR would sit empty. "No." I will not succumb to the consumer machine that continually pumps out newer and better versions of providing nothing worth having.

"Television has come a long way and gone nowhere." What could have been an instrument of education, quality... (more)
