Healing Blues Benefit Concert for Blues Singer Sherry Pruitt

Los Angeles-A Healing Blues Benefit Concert will be held for blues singer Sherry Pruitt on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 12:00 noon-5:00PM at the William Grant Still Art Center in Los Angeles. The benefit will be hosted by vocalist Barbara Morrison, comedian Garret Morris and KPFK’s Blues Power show host Bobbee Zeno. A much loved powerful singer, Pruitt suffered a stroke recently and is currently in rehab. A suggested $20 donation is requested and proceeds from the benefit will help with her medical expenses.... (more)

The city of San Pedro and Los Angeles County was immersed in Jubilee, Social Consciousness, and Pleasure on Saturday, October 4th at The Warner Grand Theatre.

A 14 - piece jazz orchestra, "The Mingus Big Band is led by wonderful conductor Conrad Herwig, who plays Trombone. They performed a marvelous array of pieces that presented profound respect to one of the most inspiring and innovative musicians of the century, Charles Mingus.

Listen, don’t take me wrong. I went to seven years of college (including law school), and the fact that I have trouble deciphering some of the residential parking signs on Los Angeles side streets is an absolute travesty. We need additional posted parking restrictions like we need another Bush presidency in eight years (wait, will Jenna be old enough?). But, I have come up with some additional signs that, I think you’ll agree, should be posted immediately:

Detective Buddy Williams of the Freak Accident Division was horrified by what he found.
