Slum

By Uttam Gill, published on Jan 25, 2013

I look down at the squalid piece of land

There the congestion can suffocate the life

I see smoke billowing out from a chimney

Somebody cooking and I wonder how life lives

The conglomerate of human being thrives on hope

The bizarre, these slums appear to be

My feet drag me into the narrow lanes

Smile of a child disarms me to read about them

Now, I see a world, where people too live

They live there and I hear a loud music

Oh! They celebrate too

Kids playing, ladies gossiping, everybody so living

From the lane,... (more)

For Her The Bell Tolls

By Uttam Gill, published on Jan 13, 2013

...whom

For the one who placed seasons in me

As the dawn breaks, she wakes up with me in my thoughts

Who is she? She is, for whom the bell tolls

As the day progress and noise increases

She comes and calms my nerves

For her the bell tolls

Seasons of life has withered her

But she resists the withering of others

She germinates hope

For her the bell tolls

The one who lives and the one who gives

I pray, I plead, when I die

Toll the bell for her who gave me seasons of life

Yes for her the bell... (more)

Ghost Too Cry

By Uttam Gill, published on Jan 7, 2013

...are you here.” He appears from nowhere and says “Yes I am here.” seeing him, the smile dances over her face. She looks at him and asks “Am I late.” The man answers with a smile “No, you are never late, look towards the sky and you would see night still at its infancy and so as your life; when I say this, I don’t wish to confuse you but I wish to set the things right that you are never late. Many regrettable reasons to give up is due to farcical belief that, we are running against the time and that’s how, we are always in hurry to claim and proclaim. In hurry, we just forget ... (more)

The SWING

By Rahul, published on Jan 2, 2013

An old man on a swing

Swinging back and forth.

Clenching his hands tight

On the rusty side chains.

Legs stretched and bend

To the rhythm of swing.

His cotton white beard as-

An aimless lite drift cloud,

Shining in the morning sun

Showing the sign of age.

Joy fills the fogy face like-

That in an innocent child’s.

The swing of life continues

Swinging back and forth.

Flawless as day and night

Swinging back and forth.

For a beautiful lives end

Swinging back and forth.

I Am A Dreamer Of Dreams

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 30, 2012

I am a dreamer of dreams and always will be...Yes, life can send them crashing into oblivion. My unfailing will finds the key to resurrect them; bringing them safely to a place of hope.

What is the difference between those who dream and those who do not? ...Is it a matter of perspective ? Or has God blessed the dreamer with infinite grace...

Those who dream are not lost to this world, but rather build a bridge to the next world. A place of believing, a place of surrender, a place which is a haven to any unknown burdens. This world is what is and what may be...it breathes... (more)

Intuition

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 21, 2012

...only 1% of the population is this. So I knew I was a little different, but this certainly confirmed it to me.

One of the things I learned from this is that I am naturally intuitive and often this is how I "see'" my world, and make decisions. It allowed me to welcome this into my life more, and in the process I have learned to have more trust in this "knowing" part of myself. "Your intuition is your friend for life" Your intuition is the bridge between the known and unknown. yet because we can not see it or measure it on any instrument, we often disregard that... (more)

That’s how; we undertake our journey of life

By Uttam Gill, published on Dec 19, 2012

Life upturns with no clue

At the hindsight of reversal we assume, we learn

The moments of rejoice seldom doubts

That’s how; we undertake our journey of life

In usual captivity of realm of our belief, we trust

We fail to see a dagger, eager to stab

All gets camouflaged with fanfare of optimism

Over the murderous assault of betray, we cry

That’s how; we undertake our journey of life

Dream defines easy terms and life takes unusual burdens

In the conjectural spectrum of life, we wonder and drift

Even the drift has it course

Inside Your Heart

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Dec 16, 2012

Take me to that hidden place in your heart

Deep within where sorrow lingers

The sun does not shine

Still in vastitude

Hope abides

Calling your name

Gently stroking your un-scared heart

Love keeping the embers burning

A pure flame gifted within....

In this clandestine abode

Where you retreat from

All worries, all troubles, all sadness

Let me lay bare myself

To open my soul to hold you

When the pain and weariness

Become too much

Let me transcend this and sit inside

This... (more)

Final LIGHT

By Rahul, published on Dec 6, 2012

...counting as it is slowing down, felt dizzy and will fall soon into sleep, my last sleep from which I won’t wake up, remembering the biology lessons as a jock, humans need oxygen to survive and the jock remains that I don’t want to survive. It wasn't hard for me though, to give up, living a life was hard but leaving it, as easy as an eye blinks. Is it selfish to think like this, I don’t know and who is there to tell me otherwise.

A lightning struck me on my chest; it pierced in and hit the heart. I opened my eyes with a heavy inhale of air and a thrust of white light into it,... (more)

Make My Dreams come True

By Uttam Gill, published on Dec 6, 2012

Take me in your arms

The story of wait to be concluded

Unwritten notes of my thoughts, can you read

Who knows my longing better then you?

Onto the pages of story, words rejoicing with your thoughts

I am living in the corridors of our comforting dreams

Come now and fetch me the glittering happiness

Come and hold me to create our world

In the breathing space of my dreams, I live

I wonder if there is a dream without you

The dreams communicate and I pray they do

Come, take me in your arms and make my dreams come true.
