Lessons Through Pain

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 22, 2013

This tribulation planted

Instilled within my soul

Deeper than deep

Wider than forever

I tried through grace to

Dig it out, leave it shattered

On the path of benevolence

Poisoned with anger

Healed with love

Still swaddled uninvited

Choking my heart beats

OH, MURMURING .....

Leaving me drenched

Cataclysm overflowing

Cascading torrents

A waterfall descending

Plummeting itself

Beyond the abyss

My eyes raining down

Mocking my song

Unsung in this affliction

What Is Your Breaking Point?

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Oct 31, 2013

Who and what we are must not be determined by what others may define you as. In order to be at peace, you need to know your own self, know that you have tried to the best of your ability to understand and find a place of resolution. If the only way to have this happen, means sacrificing your own values system, then it is time to walk away. We all have our breaking point. It exists for a reason. In many ways it is your authentic self telling you that although the part of you that dreams for the best, this is beyond what is possible without the other person being able to acknowledge... (more)

Stand Tall

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Sep 6, 2013

Endless tears

Rivers of regret

Merged with awareness

Which embeds in our soul

Dry your eyes

Stand tall

Move on

LEARN...

Amble on

Accepting

What can't be

Changed...

Let it go

Let the healing of

Grace cover

Your soul...

Deliver us

With redemption

To begin

ANEW...amen.

Acceptance

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 29, 2013

Straight from the heart

These words said

Somehow they

Appear to be dead

No longer holding

Meaning or worth

Who stole it

A drifting presence

Unknown...

You shall not possess

The unknown

A phantom illusion

Lost in the chaos

A ghost of untruth

No reality...

And so it goes

And so it was

Unwinding the creation

Facing the lose

Scattered beyond

All that was real...

Left on the pavement

Placed with a kiss

Abandoned dreams

Will... (more)

The One Thing We All Need

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Aug 26, 2013

I am thinking of so many of my dear friends who are struggling with health issues and many other of life's problems. What is the one thing that we all need to have in these times? To me it is hope and faith. Very much the same in many ways. But faith to me is "hope in action"....So I wish you my friends, while I am unable to fix all of this for you, or as I said to a dear lady, "wave a magic wand".....so the next best thing I can offer you is hope...and may this hope turn to faith. Love and blessings. Barbara

The Awakening

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 15, 2013

Years ago I found this and it had such wisdom that I made it a point to share this with every new client I had from that point onward....

The AwakeningSonny Carroll

There comes a time in your life when you finally get it ... When in the midst of all your fears and insanity you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out "ENOUGH! Enough fighting and crying or struggling to hold on." And, like a child quieting down after a blind tantrum, your sobs begin to subside, you shudder once or twice, you blink back your tears and through a mantle... (more)

From Storms To Sunlight

By Barbara MacDonald , published on May 24, 2013

Storms tempestuous raging the lakes cresting with exertion of life*** After the storm the sun broke through warming my soul beckoning me with hope the river banks serene majestic harmony Quiescent serenity*** Storms will come Tears cascade with endlessness insinuated lament seemingly eternal whimpers of longing*** For the avidity of the sun the caress of purity and innocence lost turning our tears to mist*** Rising within to be no more...to erase forever with rebirth Of faith and hope rejuvenated strength grace undeserved*** Dancing and sparkling in our hearts... breaking forth... (more)

Lessons, yes I am still learning...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Feb 21, 2013

I had to call myself out last week. I found my self thinking wrongly , and doing something I would not do in good conscience . I had gone out after digging myself out from a huge snow storm, so perhaps my mood was not quite right at the time. This is not an excuse that I will allow myself though. I arrived at the grocery store I normally shop at. I go there as I find they have a great selection plus very reasonable prices. I personally hate wasting money when shopping for food, as I am very aware of so many that do not have enough to buy the proper food for themselves or their family.... (more)

Lessons From The Drop-In...

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Nov 4, 2012

Some things You Should NEVER DO if you work in a drop-in lol

Practical Lessons In Survival I was so naive.....

There are some very important things you need to learn very quickly if you want to survive working in a drop-in for street people. Man, was I christened within the first few days . Looking back, it really is quite funny to me how naive I was then. Didn't take me long to wise up some. It was a matter of survival, mine and theirs.

First, and this is a definate NO-NO. Do not empty the ashtrays. Well it seemed to me that if they had butts in them, I should... (more)

Turning Negative To Positive

By Barbara MacDonald , published on Jun 21, 2012

Over the years I have worked with every existence of people. The wealthy, the educated, the uneducated, the middle class, the working poor, the single parent, the homeless. In this, I have often asked myself what is the difference between those who are happy and have fulfillment within; and those who don't. I know this is no " simple " question and the answer surely could take a book or two to answer... but if I could narrow it down to one important reason and somehow simplify it... I would have to say it is how you CHOOSE to receive what life may bring you. Are you able to find... (more)
