El Al Launches Direct Flights from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv

Getting to Israel from Los Angeles will be a lot easier. Israel's El Al Airlines will now be offering the only nonstop service between Los Angeles and Tel Aviv. The inaugural flight will take place on Sunday, July 23rd. The flights, which will take about 14 1/2 hours, will operate three times a week on Boeing 777 aircraft. The planes feature personal TV screens at every seat. At a press conference held at the Luxe Hotel in Bel Air, El Al's Chairman Izzy Borovich expressed excitement about his company's new venture. 2 more Israeli soldiers abducted, Israel attacks Lebanon

Hezbollah militants entered into Israel from Lebanon this morning. Two Israeli soldiers have been abducted today and 8 others have been killed in the clash opposing the militants and the army. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called the soldiers' capture "an act of war". An operation involving planes, tanks and gunboats has started in Southern Lebanon not long after the abduction to rescue the kidnapped soldiers. Gilad Shalit, abducted by the armed wing of the Hamas on June 25th, is still believed to be kept in Southern Gaza. His condition is unclear. (more)
