Mickey Mouse Off'd! RIP

By Steven Blake, published on Jun 30, 2007

...showed an Israeli official trying to buy Farfour's land. At one point in the show the Mickey Mouse double called Israelis terrorist. At another point he says, "We will restore to this nation its glory, and we will liberate (Jerusalem mosque) Al-Aqsa, with Allah's will, and we will liberate Iraq, with Allah's will, and we will liberate the Muslim countries invaded by murderers". Then they showed the Israelis beating Farfour to death, our Mickey Mouse double getting sucker punched and killed and then making him a martyr who was "defending his land". And then to urge children to stand ... (more)

Librescu Day

By Invisible African, published on Jun 16, 2007

...States has -- in places like Latin America, Haiti, the Philippines and elsewhere -- picked fights at the drop of a dime whenever dollars were to be made, a fact that is largely ignored in classrooms around the country. The result is that, as the country gets bogged down in Afghanistan and Iraq, many students don't know any better than to think thousands of their fellow citizens, most only slightly older than them, are killing and being killed in those countries in the name of spreading freedom. But freedom can mean many things. Librescu, born on Aug. 16, 1930, on the outskirts of... (more)

Why Hate Paris?

By Chris Jones, published on Jun 4, 2007

Has Paris Hilton affected your life in any way? Has Paris Hilton caused physical or emotional harm to you? Could it be that she is at fault for global warming or possibly the war in Iraq? Surely she’s responsible for Katie Couric’s low ratings or the VA Tech massacre. She would have to be at fault for one of these things or at least something to warrant the kind of hatred aimed at her in recent weeks. Every single television program from the early morning to late night has called her a “horrible person” and expressed the hope that in addition to serving a full jail sentence that she also... (more)

OC al-Qaeda Member Beguiles Media with More Demands, Threats

By Charles Harmison, published on Jun 1, 2007

...al-Qaeda produced video stars, Ayman al-Zawarhiri, Muqtada al-Sadr, etc. That said, in the rush to scare the public with yet another Muslim radical spouting off impossible demands and threatening us with violence which in his words "will make us forget all about September 11th, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Virginia Tech"; has anyone bothered to question if this guy's threats hold any weight? Last I checked Virgina Tech had nothing to do with al-Qaeda or maybe now the terrorists are responsible for everything bad that happens post 9-11. For Fox News' Hannity and Colmes, for example, this was ... (more)

Americans a necessary evil

By lamarqueza, published on May 29, 2007

...ranging from medicine to economics. They were attending Rice University, the University of Houston, and others. These people were lawyers, doctors, and MBA graduate students. I was approached by a nice, young, attractive, economics doctoral candidate also from Turkey. The conversation turned to Iraq. Without getting into a whole tirade about this war I simply mentioned that I didn't approve of it, I was not a Republican supporter, I always voted Democrat, and I wanted this war to be over. My Turkish guy who we'll call O said that in the two years that he'd been in the USA he had never met... (more)

Attack of the Benign Tomatoes

By GreatMinds, published on May 21, 2007

... deliver as hyped. Some have exceeded expectations. Barry Bonds marched toward the most coveted recognition in baseball with a little flaxseed oil on his elbows. Other chemicals have historically delivered as intended, too, even if a bit overdone. Yellow cake uranium in Nigeria made its way to Iraq and was virtually snatched from the brink of deployment by those guys that Michael Moore hates so much. TrimSpa saved Anna Nicole's life, didn't it? The moral of the story is that when faced with a choice between using chemicals or no chemicals to enhance one's life, or just to make a good... (more)

Prince Harry, Too Good to Die in Iraq, Tony Blair Resigns

By Charles Harmison, published on May 18, 2007

Major changes are taking place over at America's parent's house and it would appear that for Tony Blair, Bush's only remaining ally in the Iraq war who still exposed himself to his critics, Merry Ole' England has become little less merry. Perhaps they sent Queen Mum over here to distract our President with all the pageantry. For while Bush was busy figuring out how to keep BBQ sauce off his new white tie, and as he stumbled over speeches that called the Queen hundreds of years old, some monumental decisions took place across the puddle, revealing that the steely resolved Brits ain't so... (more)

When Harry Could've Met Paris

By GreatMinds, published on May 17, 2007

The British army has decided not to send Prince Harry to the Iraqi war after all; specific threats against him by terrorists in Iraq were deemed to put the prince and his fellow soldiers at undue risk of harm. Paris Hilton should hire Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, General Sir Richard Dannatt as her lead counsel in her effort to avoid being sent to a Los Angeles jail. He pulled the rug on Harry's trip to Baghdad. The editor of Sky News described Dannatt's reasoning as fears that Prince Harry would be a "magnet for jihadists". As if Paris would not be a magnet for some... (more)

The Politics of Defeat and Deceit

By Amo, published on May 12, 2007

...country would perhaps disagree with, and yet most have either forgotten the lessons of 9/11 or worse yet need to be reminded by another unthinkable act, that we're in a world wide conflict for our very survival. One can argue with justification that we have not executed efficiently the war in Iraq, however to suggest that we went to war for personal or partisan reasons by this administration, is in effect denying the facts at the time, and rather then rehashing recent history, about UN sanctions and a unanimous vote by the congress to go to war, and of course the issue of WMD's, would be... (more)

Set Paris Free!

By Ed Attanasio, published on May 12, 2007

...trade her back and forth for Cups ‘O Soup and candy bars! Not to mention the other problems that Paris will encounter in the slammer. How is she going to shop? Who’s going to take car of her Chihuahua? Who will be mean to Lindsay Lohan and hang out with Britney Spears? Sure, Iraq is a big deal. Global warming is a concern. But, how can you even compare that to something as important as this? I am proud to be part of a grass-roots campaign to keep poor persecuted Paris out of jail. In a message that went up Monday on her MySpace page and reported in the New York Post,... (more)
