Two main characters form the storylines of Distant Thunder. Would you like to tell us more about them?

Jimmy: Distant Thunder features two main characters. Ty Dempsey is a suburban Kansas City pastor that has been rocked by the loss of his younger brother to the war in Iraq. The Midnight Ride Of Rick Perry

...Don’t expect to find any saloon girls there who look like Susan Boyle. They’ll be great looking even if they can’t sing. You probably won’t find Willie there either. He had the unmitigated gall to write a song called “Whatever Happened to Peace on Earth” right on the eve of the Iraq War. Most of Texas has forgiven him, but you just never know.

The other night on KLBJ-AM radio, a rather novel thing happened. This is the Austin station that crudely kept those call letters even after they signed on with Rush Limbaugh. The local talkers have to drink Limbaugh Kool-Aid ... (more)

Walking In Faith: Wolves In Sheeps Clothing

By Lumiere, published on Apr 16, 2009

...Somemight say it's a Military Coup at it's finest. Our coffers were raided but just like in the good old days when the 'Bushies' use to steal the Gold out of the Holocausts victims teeth...where is our countries Gold reserve?Has anyone checked on the Gold lately? It is probably in a vault inthe Iraqdesertsomewhere by now. It is only natural that Halliburton, Blackwaterand KBR make billions off of the war using our tax dollars and sacrificing oursoldiers overseaswhile ironically, the rest of the country goes bankrupt. Win. Win for them. Not for us.Whenwe fail to March on Washington to shake... (more)

Blogs Are Not A Powerless Echo Chamber

By Joan Westin, published on Mar 9, 2009

...lost. They’ve lost because bloggers exert a disproportionate pressure on politics and in highlighting injustice.

No more will only certain kinds of people be allowed to speak up or to each other. I can be as equally belligerent as the GOP in my HATRED of the Illegal and Immoral Iraq War and my OPPOSITION to the Illegal and Immoral Iraq War supporters. I label the Illegal War supporters as un-American. I have nothing but contempt for the GOP. My zeal matches any extreme right-wing nut job. I will relentlessly mock and deride the far-right nut jobs paranoid fantasies. I am a... (more)

The New Mommunism

By VeroniqueChevalier, published on Feb 26, 2009

...Please pardon me for pointing out that this so-called instinct isn't necessarily benign. Case in point, Susan Smith, who drowned her two tykes by locking them into her car and letting it roll into a lake. (On second thought, perhaps her special brand of maternal instinct would be useful in Iraq- Somebody call the State Department!)Then there are those who seem to be enamored of the idea that women who have given birth are more 'connected' to the Earth, and are possessed of greater innate wisdom and respect for all other life forms. This flies in the face of a recent experience I had in ... (more)

The Taming Of The Shoe

By Glenn T, published on Dec 16, 2008

Against all odds, I finally believe it: Iraq is now safer than the United States. And no, it’s not post-election euphoria clouding my mind. No, after six years of watching an endless news stream of insurgent and poorly directed violence result in seemingly endless American casualties – I finally get a news item so purely devoid of spin that I’ve no choice to believe it and draw the conclusion above. In case you missed it, at a joint news conference in Iraq, where President Bush (alongside Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki) was talking about... (more)

...Sec. 1042 of the Act, "Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies," effectively overturns what is known as posse comitatus. The Posse Comitatus Act is a law, passed in 1878, that prohibits the use of the regular military within the U.S. borders.U.S. troops returning from duty in Iraq will be carrying out homeland patrols in America from October 1st in complete violation of the Constitutional Law of Posse Comitatus for the purposes of helping with “civil unrest and crowd control” - which could include dealing with unruly Americans after a complete economic... (more)

Enforcing Martial Law In America

By Lumiere, published on Sep 27, 2008

" The American people are not getting the full story about the role and scope of military contractors in Iraq.  Under current law, Congress can’t even get a straight answer from the Pentagon about how many contractors are operating inside of Iraq, and yet the American taxpayer is expected to foot the bill.  According to some estimates, there are as many as a 100,000 military contractors operating inside Iraq. Forty cents of every Dollar goes to private military contractors, 1001 were killed in Iraq but we don't really know because their numbers aren't counted. American Politics 101

By AmyO, published on Sep 18, 2008

...everyone knows, America is the ONLY country that matters and anyone that speaks out against us is just mean. And besides, you can’t actually see Spain from anywhere in America.Eventhough Spain has 1,000 troops in Afghanistan because they are a NATO ally, they pulled their troops out of Iraq because they felt that war was unjust, as did the rest of the world, and we just cannot forgive that.

6.) Anyone who questions John McCain’s war record, the Iraq war, or the real motives of the Bush Administration is un-American.

WE are the only party that cares about this ... (more)
