I Will Keep on Trucking

By Frank - icare2be, published on May 26, 2011

I wake up with pain.I begin to move ever so slowly.I will keep on trucking.

Doctor visits too regular.Emergency Room visits too often.Yet, I keep on trucking.

Diagnosis unclear, or untrusted.Next doctor or specialist please.Trucking down my road.

Medical records grow fastEven thicker than the family bible.Looking like a truck maybe needed.

Frustration germinates and springs to life.Even confusion reigns at times.Truck load of prayers sped on their way.

Faith carries the day.My days are numbered and known. To my Driver.

I am assured there is a reasonI... (more)

You must follow your dreams!

By Caballero_69, published on May 21, 2011

Daringly journey wherever they lead.

Do not be dismayed by any dastardly deed.

Shelter them; nourish them; help them grow.

Cherish them deep in the heart of hearts that you alone know.

Follow your dreams, Chase them with rigor.

Dreams are too precious for anything but vigor.

Be courageous; be loyal all day and all night

Refuse to give up; fight the good fight.

When the battle is raging and all may be lost,

Bear every burden and pay any cost!

Disregard worry and weariness; never give in!

To betray your dreams is the... (more)

End of the World? Probably Not

By Lumiere, published on May 21, 2011

On my way to the airport there were neon colored signs going down the escalators claiming May 21st, 2011 as Doomsday. My first thought was about how the date on the signs clashed with Nostradamus and the Mayans date for Doomsday which is December 21st, 2012 otherwise known as the day of the Grand Alignment, or Returning to Zero Point. The theory is that the planets will align, the earth's gravity will shift to zero, in which the position of the north and south pole change, causing major environmental shifts like; earthquakes, tsunamis, catastrophic fireworks, mudslides and sudden death due... (more)

Keeping from Pettiness - What If?

By Caballero_69, published on Apr 16, 2011

“We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right. To be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for lives that are less than the ones, we are capable of living or accepting a world that is less than the one we are capable of building.” Nelson Mandela

By thinking big thoughts rather than small ones and using the best words rather than the worst ones, each of us will enhance the quality of our thinking and our communication.... (more)

He's the One! A Candidate With Courage Shows the Way

By Caballero_69, published on Mar 18, 2011

...the number of foreign lands occupied.

As Robert Kennedy famously said, “I dream things that never were and ask why not?” Why not? Let’s make it happen!

“And then, all of us who are Americans, including the ones today who are jobless, homeless, sick, suffering and almost hopeless, all of us can say, I am proud to be an American.”

On March 12, 2011, he is the one who said,

“Here and around the world, many people have fought and died, so that you and I would have the right to organize. They fought so that 250,000 public workers in Wisconsin would have ... (more)

Live To Inspire

By Barkha Dhar, published on Jan 29, 2011

Inspiration is like the lotus that rises from the sludge and is untouched by the impurity of pond. It’s the illumination of soul that is unstirred by repugnance of life. As spur of hope, inspiration is the internal mettle that keeps us moving even if the sun is down. As an internal coach, inspiration often emboldens us at the end of the road to be resilient and change the axis of our life. Such grit is a gift beyond age and above reasoning to uncountable souls across the globe. Today I am sharing the narratives of some such souls whose life is a sketch of inspiration.

At 9, she was impeccant... (more)

Akshaya Patra: Feeding The Future

By Barkha Dhar, published on Dec 25, 2010

My elderly friend once said to me, ‘praying for others before praying for self’ invokes invincible blessings. Indeed, her wisdom meant that our prayers are holy seam that resurrect hope even for people unknown to us. Tonight at Christmas Eve, when my family & I shall enjoy sumptuous meal, we shall pray for the million souls fed daily by Akshaya Patra, an NGO fighting hunger across nine states in India. The sanguine mission of Akshaya Patra adumbrates the legendary ‘service before self’ in its nineteen kitchens that satisfy the cravings of young children to bring back the sheen in their... (more)

Paths of Death

By Lynda Lehmann, published on Oct 28, 2010

Venal flawed existence

flouting

preconceived verbalizations...

No thought to language or

aspiration to meaning,

all yearning for truth adulterated--

politicized--

on Benches of Greed.

Where are the heroes?

Oh, let me sing you.

Do not fling yourself on the altar of

your conscience's death:

mind sacrificed to paltry truths,

enunciations carrying the weight of tin.

Flap not on empty windows

or abandoned domiciles

of Mind-Once-Given

then dubiously re-gifted

to Purveyors... (more)

There Will Be A Tomorrow

By LiftingMeUp, published on Sep 16, 2010

No matter how hard it seems The weight on your shoulders The load on your back The pain you must carry There will be a tomorrow

Even if the rain is pouring And the flooding is rising And the thunder is roaring And the lightning is striking There will be a tomorrow

If the house is shaking And the windows are creeking And the doors are banging And the floor is trembling There will be a tomorrow

Continuation won’t stop Time and life will not cease The hands on the clock Will continue to tick There will be a tomorrow

And with that next day You will see a new sunrise... (more)

Bad News is Good News Waiting to Be Made

By the expat returned, published on Aug 22, 2010

...didn’t exist before: plant a garden, draw, paint, make music, cook meals with the people you love, find a bit of lumber and build something. The art of using your hands to fashion an item is as old as humanity itself.

These are simply my suggestions to those of you who struggle as I do with depression and existential angst in trying times. I welcome your feedback and additional suggestions for making this experience of transition a positive one, leaving behind fear in favor of something hopeful and productive for us as individuals and as members of a rich and complex society.
