The Burn Zone

By melanie jean juneau, published on Jan 20, 2014

Even though it is bitterly cold outside, my heart is burning with fervor and my thoughts are leaping for joy because at 58 years old, I am in the springtime of a new life. It doesn’t matter that it is freezing outside; inside it is warm by the wood stove. I am coming back to life. For the first time in 33 years all my kids have basically moved out and I am free to write.

My body has not yet adjusted because the body remembers the tension and stress of running a household of eleven people.. My body has not quite caught up to this new reality because as the mother of nine, I was always... (more)

Don't Get Crazy People

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 7, 2011

The Heat and Magic have amassed 7 game win streaks and people are going off the deep end. They are the greatest ever. Their teams can't lose. No one can stop these teams. Don't get crazy people.

The Heat took a long time to gel and finally start trying to play like a team, but the 7 game win streak says more about what they are not than what they are. They have beaten 2 top tier teams - well 1 top tier team and 1 team that appears top tier but it's really not. The Lakers and the Knicks. The Lakers are a top tier team but have struggled of late and the Heat got them on the down... (more)

The Hawks have a very good offensive team that is getting better on defense. New head coach Larry Drew has instituted the motion offense and it is keeping 5 to 6 players in double digit points ... (more)

Cleveland Burns as LeBron Joins Miami Heat

By Jeff Weisinger, published on Jul 9, 2010

... fans, let alone the rest of the NBA should've seen this coming.

LeBron James' decision to not resign with his hometown Cavaliers and to join All-Stars Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami for the 2010-11 season was expected after rumors swirled about James flying down to Miami to meet with Heat president Pat Riley before Thursday night's 1-hour ESPN special "The Decision." James posted on his @kingjames Twitter account "The Road to History begins now." shortly after he landed in South Beach last night.

As one end of the country embraces their newest star, let alone their newest... (more)

The Latest Green Energy

By TheGuysPerspective, published on Nov 25, 2009

...the house is actually colder than it is outside. So while everyone’s enjoying the leaves as they’re turning every sort of shade and the kids head back to school, excited for bus rides and recess, I’m shivering in my house, wearing about four layers of clothes. But I refuse to turn on the heat. It’s too early and gas is expensive. And I’m cheap.

So imagine my utmost surprise this weekend when things took a turn in my favor. My oldest son, who’s still in elementary school decided he wanted to have a sleepover. At first it was going to be a few kids, but the list kept... (more)
