Flipping the Switch, or the Coin?

By Shane Joseph, published on Mar 6, 2014 beg, bum or borrow with never an intention of paying back.

Recently I visited another such country, one of the last bastions of communism, where after generations of isolation, the truth has come home to roost: the old model, utopian in concept, is unsustainable. “We need to unleash greed, fear and enterprise to make things tick again,” is the grim realization. No one remembers past mistakes made in other places, because the proletarian rulers need to drown them out and focus the masses into believing the perfection of their new model. And anyway, it will be too embarrassing... (more)

Despicable Her: CEO's Huge Raise While Agency Fails.

By joshuaallen, published on Jul 31, 2013

The Business of Child Abuse

Dr. Cecilla Jefferson, the founder and executive director of Fred Jefferson Memorial Home for Boys, received almost a 58% pay raise from the years 2009 to 2010.

The inordinate pay raise took place despite large operating losses, huge tax liabilities and negative net assets. The most recent county audit suggests the agency may not have a way to pay back their debts.

The executive directors salary increased from $126,000 to $199,215 in 2010. An increase of over 58%. Cecilia Jefferson’s salary in 2011, is listed as $180,284.

Yet, during... (more)

Egypt, 'Concern' As Scores Killed In Protests

By Shaun Gibson, published on Jul 28, 2013

...showing itself in many countries. It started in the Middle East/North Africa, as the bible said it would (Strange how nobody is picking up on this huh?) and it is spreading. People want the freedom the people of the USA used to enjoy and the people in my Country still do, for now anyway. We here in the UK take to the streets to make a point, next day, we all go back to life. In the Middle East right now and North African, we could be seeing the 1st parting shots of a World sickened by Greed and Power hungry men. I think this could get REAL bad.

More love, Less Hate.

America...How Far You Have Fallen

By Coach Phatty, published on Jul 10, 2013

...There is no permanent empire, nor is there an enduring haven for Jews anywhere in the exile. The American empire began to decline in 2007, and the deterioration has been exacerbated in the last five years. This election only hastens that decline.

Society is permeated with sloth, greed, envy and materialistic excess. It has lost its moorings and its moral foundations.. The takers outnumber the givers, and that will only increase in years to come.

The “Occupy” riots across this country in the last two years were mere dress rehearsals for what lies ahead –... (more)

What is greed? A Meditation

By Notumbus Bumbus, published on Nov 29, 2011

...condition as terrorism (murder is murder, after all,) poverty (again, since the beginning keeping our company,) disease and disasters naturally arisen, but those made by our hands, as well, and a clear amplification of the severity of those rising from nature by the actions of our own rapacious greed.

There are many causes, and multitudinous perpetrators, and therefore to attempts to expose and condemnation would be an expenditure of outrage with no discernable profit. I will instead seek to dig much deeper than that – into the bedrock of the underlying supports that bring all... (more)

Keeping The Right Perspective

By Randy Mitchell, published on Nov 28, 2011

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the holidays in general give us all an opportunity each year to reflect on the people, circumstances, and things we have to be thankful for. The energy in the air during December always seems to be (at least for me) very positive and uplifting; a little cleaner and crisp, and filled with that certain charisma and charm making us more lighthearted and hopeful. Perhaps, it’s because I’m a believer, and feel that the days leading to the celebration of Christ’s birth gives me renewed hope that I’ll live again after my moments on earth are finally over. But more than... (more)

Yes. Let's Occupy Wall Street

By ranfuchs, published on Oct 27, 2011

Once there was a bank, let's call it C, and the bank would not provide credit for its loyal customer, R, who had been with C for many years. Even though C kept taking R's money, she always had good excuses why she would not yield. “You're not from here,” she'd say. But then R moved here, and two years later, C ran out of excuses, and one day, just like this, she offered R a credit card.

It was blue and smooth, and had diamonds on it, and although R's limit was only $300, he was delighted. Now, he thought, he could build his credit history, and become a true American, with debt, and... (more)

Caught between Fear and Greed

By Shane Joseph, published on Oct 25, 2011

It seems that fear and greed have taken firm hold of the world. Aided by instant communications that keep us up-to-the minute on everyone else’s fear and greed, we are able to spread this contagion everywhere. In good times, we want more: greed (or in stock market parlance “buy, buy, buy, borrow and buy some more”), in bad times we want to hang on to what we have: fear (or in stock market lingo, “sell, sell, sell, bail me out and sell more”). The Herd mentality takes over. I thought that bulls moved in droves and bears in litters but their owners seem to move in herds.

Now we are heading... (more)

Paths of Death

By Lynda Lehmann, published on Oct 28, 2010

Venal flawed existence

preconceived verbalizations...

No thought to language or

aspiration to meaning,

all yearning for truth adulterated--

on Benches of Greed.

Where are the heroes?

Oh, let me sing you.

Do not fling yourself on the altar of

your conscience's death:

mind sacrificed to paltry truths,

enunciations carrying the weight of tin.

Flap not on empty windows

or abandoned domiciles

of Mind-Once-Given

then dubiously re-gifted

to Purveyors... (more)
