Rudy is a 1993 film directed by David Anspaugh. It is an account of the life of Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger who harbored dreams of playing football at the University of Notre Dame despite significant obstacles. Despite Financial Crisis, Campaign Business Is Booming

By JasonTaylor, published on Sep 19, 2008

...some viewed the comment as a cheap shot; apparently, Senator Reid viewed it as direction. “No one knows what to do,” Reid said in reference to the financial crisis. “We are in new territory. This is a different game. We’re not out here playing soccer, basketball or football. … It is a multi-trillion dollar issue that is facing America, and we can’t do it on some timeline that is unrealistic.”

If only the Presidential candidates had some way to lend their voices to the congressional dialogue; you know, if only they were Senators... (more)

The Black Man, The Woman, The Senior Citizen, The Mormon.

By slowasigo, published on Aug 14, 2008

... the result of a tireless parent who in rote form, daily reminded me that Hell was bad, Heaven to be desired, and that my sight was sure to be lost if I masturbated. (the latter proven over and over to be false).

I follow politics with an fervor akin to my contemporaries tracking fantasy football statistics and World Poker outcomes. The most compelling aspect of this years political cycle to me is that every candidate and many possible VP selections are demographically alienable. Many of the key players have had the unfortunate affiliation with decisions handed down from the highest... (more)

Sexy Time?

By Justin, published on Aug 13, 2008

...it; I’m not an abuser, but why is it so hard for me to go forward with the act, rather than just say, “Well it will happen eventually why not now.”

I think it has something to do with growing up as a single child and only a mother as my one person of enlightenment. All around me, football players, jocks, cocks, and bitches, “sluttier” than when you went to school are enticing me, wanting me to just say those simple words. I refrain, and think about my values, (I’m Atheist and I have values, WTF) and I decide that it is better to wait and hold on for someone that means the ... (more)

When Retirement Really Isn't Retirement

By tmoya, published on Aug 10, 2008

...What a wonderful example to all those Green Bay kids that look up to Brett – kiddies don’t believe what an adult says. In fact, it’s okay to say one thing and do another as long as you get what you want in the end. This is the stuff of our modern day sports legends. I am a football fan, so I will watch when Brett takes the field for the Jets. If by some miracle he makes the Jets competitive, again I’ll shake my head and laugh under my breath. Brett Farve as a sports legend? I retired that opinion on Thursday morning, and it will not come out of retirement any time... (more)

Cowboy Country

By V, published on Jul 7, 2008

...College. Although we’d never heard of Dixie State College, you’d be blind, deaf or illiterate to miss this information. While Australian Universities may be able to boast an internationally competitive level of education, we cannot compete with American college facilities. The football field and its bleachers at Dixie State may as well have been the size of the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground). These bizarrely perfect, cookie-cutter housing estates seemed to have tapped into water sources somewhere to create these lush, garden-of-Eden oases in the Devil’s lair of... (more)

I Love L A...

By Batman, published on Jun 19, 2008

...has always been my favorite. Of course, some would argue that we speak American, or USAnian, myself included.

The Lakers fell short the other night, bringing an incredible dream, and season to a close. Onto baseball, and the Dodgers. We can still cheer for the LA Avengers Arena Football team. The Kings had an off year this year, but hockey starts up again in the fall. And almost fifteen years later, we don't really miss the Rams or Raiders as much as we probably should. You can be a sports fan year round in this town.

Sports not your thing? Entertainment can be had ... (more)
