Gobble Gobble

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 28, 2010

Thanksgiving is almost upon us and that means a few things to most Americans. Family, turkey, and football. A set of 3 games are on tap for Thanksgiving Day viewing this year.

First up, the Patriots travel to the Lions to kick off turkey day football. The Lions have had quite the time of it this year with some questionable calls and their quarterback Stafford being injured for a big part of the season. They are a much better team than people give them credit, but they are not going to beat the Patriots. New England is getting things together and are starting to work on all sides... (more)

Like A Box Of Chocolates

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 17, 2010

...their division and 5-3 in the conference. It sounds relatively good...the standings at least, but you never know what you're going to get. Some games he is absolutely brilliant and you think why can't he do this every game. Then, the next game he looks like he doesn't know what to do on a football field and that the only place he can stand upright is on the sidelines.

Yes, a big majority of his problems ensue from the fact that the Bears offensive line this year is absolutely abysmal. They have not protected Cutler and in some games it almost appeared they were absent entirely. ... (more)

Not So Fast

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 17, 2010

Before Monday night's game versus the Eagles, word came out that the Redskins had given Donovan McNabb a brand new huge contract. People were asking themselves, why would a team and a player who obviously have problems with each other agree to such a seemingly outrageous deal?! Not so fast my friends. Once again, things are not as they first appear.

The Redskins have an out clause in the deal. This clause states that at the end of this season the Redskins can cut McNabb and owe him NOTHING. Not a single penny. They can use him the rest of the season and then cut him loose free and... (more)

Flying High

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 17, 2010

...45 points in a half. The 59 points were also the most ever scored against a team coached by Mike Shanahan.

Michael Vick becomes a free agent at the end of this season. According to reports, the Eagles will almost certainly keep hold of Vick whether by a contract extension or the franchise tag. The Eagles are now tied for 1st place in their division with a 6-3 record. Next up, the New York football Giants, who some in the sports media think is the best team in the NFL this season so far. I think though, right now, the best QB in the NFL, is Michael Vick and he is flying high.

Winning Is Good

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 13, 2010

The Atlanta Falcons beat the Baltimore Ravens in Thursday night football 26-21 after leading the game 20-7 and then letting the Ravens come back and get ahead. The Falcons then had to score a TD in the last 2 minutes of the game in order to win. But such is the story of the Falcon's lives.

The Falcons have made a bad habit of getting way out in front in games and then in the 2nd half letting teams back in the game. Some of these games, the Falcons have been able to win like against the Ravens and some they have lost. It is not a good habit to get into. The first half they play all... (more)

Garrett's Not The Answer

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 10, 2010

The Cowboys issues a lot bigger than Wade Phillips. Firing him and replacing him with Jason Garrett is not going to cure the Cowboys troubles. In fact, it just may make some of them worse and here's why.

Phillips was a long time head coach. He had experience. He had knowledge. He had earned the ability to get respect. He had been around the corral a few times. And yet, his players did not respect him. They didn't listen. They did just what they wanted to do...as little as possible.

Now the Cowboys bring in a coach who is 20 years younger with very little experience.... (more)

Whiners Aren't Winners

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 9, 2010

If you recall, I said when TO and Ochocinco ended up on the same team that it would be about 6 games before it started to unravel. I was off a few games, but I was right. Only, I had it backwards. It's Ochocinco that's the problem, not TO.

In Monday night's game between the Bengals and Steelers, the Steelers had the game won, like so many games this weekend, but then they let the Bengals back in it. TO had the bulk of the Bengals receptions with 10 catches for 141 yards and 2 TDs. Ochocinco had 1 catch for 15 yards. As the Bengals were trying to come back, Ochocinco was all up in... (more)

NFL Picks Week 9

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 6, 2010

...on season ending IR, another injury in a long line of them. Vick is back and I think the Eagles win.

KC @ OAK - The 2nd of the two BEST games this weekend - a real smash mouth game - can you already see the fines that will be handed out after this one?! Bring it...love me some great football like this. I think the Chiefs win, but it's going to be a great game either way.

DAL @ GB - Packers win - Cowboys are done.

PIT @ CIN - Steelers beat down TO, Ochocinco, and company and it will be ugly.

A couple of games could go either way but this is one of the best... (more)

Here We Go Again

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 4, 2010

...

The Titans have an excellent set up for Moss to be very productive and to help an already very good offense even more. Moss, when he plays right, does open the field for the run. He does draw defenders. He can make the deep ball play. The Titans have just become a much better football team. They have a young quarterback who is steadily improving. They have the TOP running back in the league. They have good receivers. They are good on the lines. And their coach is in total, complete control of his team. This could be the best fit for Moss outside of the Patriots that... (more)

NFL Games To Watch Week 9

By Deborah Horton, published on Nov 3, 2010

...team. The Raiders on the other hand, were in a bit of disarray at the start of the season, but they have got themselves together and have been putting the literal beating on teams the last 2 weeks. First, they absolutely humiliated the Broncos in Denver and then they beat down the Seahawks. This weekend, it will be a clash of some old school style football….if I were some of the players I would start taking aspirin now. They are going to need it.

Just two of the games this weekend, but perhaps two of the best matchups of the year so far. Definitely, the games to watch.
