Now Eagles Dare

By Caballero_69, published on Jul 15, 2011

You play for the glory of your country

You make all young women aspire to be there

In the beauty of your style and skills

You show how eagles dare

Though the calls may go against you

And your energy may wane

If you hold fast to your purpose

You can win the final game.

Look for leadership from Abby

Know you can always count on Hope.

If the tide of play tilts the wrong way,

Meghan and Alex will come running to lift you up the slope.

Now you face the final foe,

A skilled and determined team

They will... (more)

Respect

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 29, 2011

...1 people who are holding Ben's off the field issues higher than his on the field accomplishments. The words rapist come out all the time. There are many people who are convinced that he was guilty on every occasion and many of these are not just Ben haters or Steelers haters, they are just football fans. I am not convinced he is innocent either, but no one has been able to prove anything. And even though he is not my favorite on a personal basis, he like every American, is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. In this America though, of the 24 hour news cycle and Twitter, guilt ... (more)

NFL Championship Games Thoughts

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 29, 2011

I have had the flu for the past few days and have spent much of that time in bed sick. I did drag myself out of bed for part of the championship games on Sunday but from what little I saw, I missed little. The Packers and the Steelers won but neither team played to their potential while the Jets and Bears played exactly to their potential.

The Packers had their game well in hand as Jay Cutler exhibited the characteristic he is most known for and why he is so disliked by players and fans - narcissism. Cutler is all about me - not the team. He is not a leader. He is in fact a loser.... (more)

Follow The Money

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 24, 2011

It used to be that college football coaches were always looking to move up to the NFL. For the exposure, for the money, for the chance to be in the pros. That's not so much the way it is anymore. More and more NFL coaches are moving to the college football ranks and they are not taking that big of a pay cut to do so. In fact, some of them are getting paid MORE to move to college. College football is awash in money and more and more NFL coaches are cashing in.

Just this college football offseason several NFL coaches have made the move to the college ranks. Greg Mattison of the Ravens... (more)

AFC Championship Predictions

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 20, 2011

The AFC matchup this weekend is a rematch of the same two teams on December 19. On that day, the Jets came out on top 22 to 17. In that game, there were a lot of things that will have an effect in the upcoming game as well. I don't look for the same game, but I do look for a close final score.

The Jets are coming off a huge win over the Patriots. One in which they talked trash relentlessly in the lead up to the game. They took some new defensive schemes into the game and had the Patriots offense confused from the start. I look for them to do the same defensive things versus the... (more)

NFC Championship Predictions

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 20, 2011

I know, I really should stop predicting anything given my record thus far in the playoffs. I am currently 2 and 6. That's right, I've gotten 2 games right thus far. Yet, I persist. Maybe it's because I don't like to be wrong and I think if I keep on the odds are I will eventually get something right! Regardless, I am pressing on this time with the NFC Championship game.

The Green Bay Packers are peaking at just the right moment. They found a running game at just the right moment. They found a team in the Falcons that let them run and pass at will. It has to boost their confidence... (more)

Favre Retires ... Again

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 18, 2011

...Bowl and win it. He stated he thinks that Green Bay is by far the best team remaining in the playoffs. Most speculate that this is all in an effort to rebuild the bridges he burned with the Packers organization when he bailed on them in his first "retirement." If Favre doesn't come back to football to play, he still may be looking for a job. Perhaps a front office job, perhaps a coaching job, but one thing is certain Favre isn't about to let a little thing like retirement keep him out of the media spotlight. He will create media buzz any way he can and of course the media that has been ... (more)

Who To Cheer For

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 17, 2011

Well, all of my teams are now out of the playoffs. After having absolutely outstanding seasons, two of the best in the NFL, the Falcons and Patriots are both eliminated on their first game of the playoffs. It was beyond disappointing to say the least. Now, I am left with 4 teams in the championship round and none of them are teams I want to cheer for.

The Packers are the team that put my Falcons out of the playoffs. I've never been a Packers fan as they are direct competition for my team. I admire Aaron Rogers and think he's one of the best QBs in the game. But I just can't see... (more)

What Went Wrong

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 17, 2011

Just about everything - for the Falcons that is. They did every possible thing wrong that a team can do. While the Packers played very well, they had help from the Falcons to win the game, and lots of it. After a winning season, a 1st place post season seed, the Falcons come out of the playoffs beaten down by the Packers to the tune of 48 to 21.

The Falcons had the week bye and some people will put the loss on the fact that they were "rusty." That's just not the case. Any team that gets to the playoffs is not going to be rusty if they have the first week bye. They aren't sitting... (more)

Follow The Yellow Brick Road

By Deborah Horton, published on Jan 15, 2011

Cam Newton you've just won the National Championship what are you going to do now? I'm going into the NFL draft. Well of course he is, there's little reason for him to wait and some good ones for him to go now. A lot of NFL teams need a QB, but how high will he be drafted and how long will it take for him to be an NFL ready QB?

Newton is smart to go into the draft now. Before all the information about his "pay for play" story comes out, and come out it will. It may take months, it may take years, but it will come out. Go in now while his performance on the field this season is fresh... (more)
