Patriotically Speaking

The sub-head could be a reprint of a current headline, but it is not. This is the slightly paraphrased statement of a member of the Confederation Congress in 1786. These were also times that tried Ameicans' souls. Two hundred twenty-five years later the time of crisis visits us again. As with the original crisis and its second rendition a decade later, summer soldiers and sunshine patriiots once more shrink from the service of their country. Life is Not Fair!

I am hereHere within.

There is no needTo look out there.

I am here Here within.

I have always beenHere within.

I am here Here patiently waiting.

I am hereHere within.

This poem was an insight in my personal searching for meaning. This poem came to mind and paper during a time of self doubt and examination. A self-confidence grew out of the insight or discovery. A confidence fed by becoming more comfortable with mistakes and achievements of the past and actions underway. Now, 11 years later I find the changes continue to this day.
